Kosher Coke, or Mexican Coke made with real suger cane

Ashkenaz Jews don't eat corn products during Passover, but Sephardic Jews do. So corn syrup isn't a problem for them. Me! In fact, concerning soda, some would say it's not really a problem for Ashkenaz either because their prohibition does not apply when corn (etc) is less than 50% of the...

How Do You Eat Carob Root?

Standing in the aisle of the grocers, I saw amid all the nuts and legumes and such a clear plastic box of... carob root. Carob all ground up is used as a naturally sweet substitute for chocolate. But -- can you eat the pod itself? Without grinding it up? How? If you peel open the pod...

17, er, 18 children "and counting"?

Micah is Democritus reincarnated: Having children is dangerous: success is full of trouble and care, failure is unsurpassed by any other pain.

    NuVision Televisions -- good product?

I didn't even know my link was to a 23". Sorry! I'm looking for a set in the 30s. A 32 would be fine. Just for the den, regular viewing, maybe pop in a DVD for the kids. As I think I said, I'd want a CRT myself, but the wife wants as little bulk as possible. So, I'm hunting around. I don't...

How's the mail delivery in your area?

My USPS service is fantastic. When I deal with Amazon or Netflix or any places with receipt or shipping centers within a tri-state area (I'm in Long Island, NY), the service from USPS is practically one day on a consistent basis.

    NuVision Televisions -- good product?

I never said I wanted a 23" TV!!! Another poster had mentioned the $1200 price tag on the NuVision 23" was ridiculous. I'm open to any suggestions on what's a good LCD TV at a good price, and that's what this local TV guy said he was giving me in re the NuVision, so I wanted to...

    NuVision Televisions -- good product?

This local TV guy of mine (not a friend, mind you, just a local seller) was saying that NuVision is very new and not widely available, but it's supposed to be kick butt. I'm wary of hype, though, so that's why I'm asking. Chris, I'm basically just looking for a great price on a great TV...

    NuVision Televisions -- good product?

Thanks, Arthur. The NuVision website shows only one of their TVs as DLP, and the rest as LCD. So, anybody else know anything about this make? Advise me!:D http://www.nuvision.com/nvx23hdu/

    Coffee Percolator

Anybody still use a coffee percolator? Since I've gotten down on my Cuisinart Grind & Brew some months ago, I made the switch to a Bodum French Press and I've been extremely pleased with it. But I'm always curious about coffee brewing methods. So, I dug out a 35 year old, really...
