Give it a whirl Frank. PR's can be used in cars- Kicker had a line of boxes ~20 yrs ago with PR's in them, a 8" woofer w a 10" PR, and a tweeter on top. Had some in a truck.
Jasen, I had 2 S15L5 in big sealed boxes for HT, they soak up the watts. I had a PE plate amp (270 watts) on ea VC, and never bottomed them. Sold one to buy an AV15, and tho the AV15 will bottom with a PE amp on ea coil and the Solo wont, the AV sounds SOOOO much better than the Solo, I hope...
I have a 9700 pro, with a dvi-vga adapter etc but its been volt modded. I can return the card back to stock easily, have stock heatsink etc. but I live in Texas, that kills the local requirement. :) FWIW, if ya want a screamer, I'll leave it volt modded, as it does 415-425 on core, with...
:) Wayne, looong ago, when the I saw the Carver cube amp for the first time, (car audio was not as bigas today) I remember thinking, "In my truck??' and grilling my electrician father, 'Dad, how big a convertor would I need for an amp this big?' His answer- No. :)
Javier, I see you live in Mexico City- hotter than Beaumont !! I have 2 of the 300-794 amps running 2 ohms, 1 into each voice coil of an AV-15. Room temmp stays at 68-70F, but I didn't mount the amps to the sub enclosure. I have them mounted in a vertical row, on a standoff fromm the wall. A...
Eric, I had a similar problem with my cable. After some Googling, I found a tip that worked for me. I ran the cable line into 2 75-300ohm converters back to back 75-300-back to 75. I used the little "pigtail" type. This cured my hum. I don't know if it will work with satellite though-worth a...
I seem to remember several threads from some time back discussing acoustic coupling. The consensus seemed to be that drivers arranged close together have greater output than if summed seperately; does this hold true for a port too? IOW, does a port acoustically couple with the driver? I'm...
Hank, I get what you're saying about the area of a circle. :) I'm not trying to promote Kicker, but their reason given for square subs is this: Round subs would have a roughly diamond shaped gap between them, mounted on a wall in a car (or van, most likely, for campetition use,)whereas...
linkage : :) In an A-B comparison to even a "good" subwoofer, such as the AV15, the Solobarics lose. But as HT subs, I cross mine over at 40hz, they slam. Too boomy tho really- they definitely are meant for auto use. Buddy of mine has 2 of the 12 inchers in an Infinite Baffle, not...
Hi all ! Re the square Solobaric subs, I have a pair of 15 inch Solos in a common 24 cu ft box. Kicker states the square design was to help acoustic coupling, in competition automotive installs. Square subs maximize cone area on the mounting surface; circles would have greater "gap" between...
