Does the shape of the enclosure matter ?

The reason square boxes have been rejected in the past is because in *higher* frequnecies you can get standing waves forming. For bass this is *not* an really issue at all due to the small boxes we use and the extremely long wavelength of bass frequencies You see the size of the distance...

    Subwoofer connection length

I am currently using one side of 10 meter RCA cable between my Denon 1802 sub out and the subwoofer in on my plate amp. This cable is just like the type you would use to connect a CD player to an amplifer. Is this 10 meter cable ok for my subwoofer connection?

Talk about giving your sub a workout !!

I loved the bass track on this film, I liked that there was differnt types of bass ranging from continous rumbling to swift punchy attacks. I just build a DIY subwoofer kit last week and this film was a good test of its capabilities. I watched the whole film at -20 below refrence. The...

    Port length to diameter ratio?

I Have seen these in the UK(Devon), this might be what you are looking for!!!!! http://www.iplacoustics.co.uk/ipl_sw..._subwoofer.htm It uses equalisation in the amplifer to give low bass from a 1 foot cube. I am getting one in the next few weeks.

They sure dont make 'em like they used to.

One thing LaMArcus you can't judge cone movement from different types speakers e.g. ported ans sealed. If you look at a sealed speaker the cone moves in and out quite far BUT a new speaker which is of a ported design will not move far when it is playing above its port frequency. Although my...
