Go with a northwood! they are faster have more cache and run cooler. if he can aford it go for it. 533mhz bus is nice but still carries a hefty premium. stick with rdram if at all possible. though slightly off topic...have you considered an Athlon solution? When building your own system they...
I third that opinion about the graphics. Go with a geforce 4400 or the radeon 8500 64mb (cheaper, near same performance) the mobo is good-asus has a reputation for being fast and rock solid. you can check for specifics on the board at toms hardware if you want. I would downgrade your hard...
He I just saw a dreamcast with one controller at "software etc." I don't know if this is a national chain, but it was only $60 I think. Hope that helps
yes it does but I want a 5.1-6.1 setup and teh klipschs do only a 4.1 so I got two extra surrounds and am using them for a 6.1 system. Is there a better way to do this? thanks a bunch
what is low impedence high min wattage? does that mean that if I got a powerful amp my speakers would blow out? So you are saying that I just wont have a whole lot of power but I should be ok otherwise? sorry but I am a bit confused Thanks a bunch

I have read the primer and searched the forum and as much as I could find online and I am just as confused as when I started with regards to different decoding systems. Now you have to understand that I am slower than your average slug and need lots of help. I am confused about what matrixed...
Thanks a lot on all of the suggestions I am considering most of them, however I also saw the Yamaha RX-V1200. Does anybody here know much about them are they any good? also what about the onkyo TX-sr600/700's are they any good?
thanks for the advice however if someone could recomend a reciever that can be used with 4ohm speakers and has 6.1 DD DPL II would be apreciated cause I watch a lot of VHS still-a lot of my collection is still in that format. Priced in the under $500 range would be lovely.
Well I already have the speakers so I am already comitted to it at leat for the short run. I am also trying to look on at a larger timframe. I can always upgrade the speakers later as well as the sub. Since this is my first system I doubt I can discern anything less than a substantial difference...
