Podcast HTF Podcast Episode 6: Aspect Ratios

Actually the aspect ratio of Devil’s Revenge is 2.76:1, but I honestly don’t get what makes it ludicrous. It’s a valid ratio that’s been used all the way back to 1959.

Podcast HTF Podcast Episode 6: Aspect Ratios

I’ve just been noticing that 2.20:1 seems to be the new hot ratio on Netflix. 2:1 is so 5 years ago! Ratched Away Hollywood The Politician Lost in Space season 2 all presented in the ratio introduced by Todd-AO.

Behind the mask: aspect ratio solutions for projector and screen

The anamorphic lens (for projectors at least) really has become obsolete. Lens functionality has become so good with the ability to zoom, shift in all directions and then memorize those positions that it functionally works better than an anamorphic lens, and projectors have enough brightness...

Of course. Because since that time, Mask of Zorro was released on UHD disc.

Apple TV+ iTunes 4K Upgrades Thread

It’s now been over a year that I first started that thread about exclusive Sony 4K titles including It Happened One Night. While Vudu finally started carrying them, sadly iTunes still has not.

No idea why they are giving it away, but whenever anybody offers me free stuff I take it. Patriot Games in 4K is now permanently part of my Amazon library.

Behind the mask: aspect ratio solutions for projector and screen

My first attempt at a do-it-yourself 2.35:1 had that very issue. 70mm and IMAX movies were smaller and they shouldn’t be. My next attempt was a 2:1 screen with a bottom black mask attachment that mostly stays in place so that all movies from 1.19:1 to 2.35:1 have the same height and side...

I totally get what you‘re saying there, as iTunes has been known to NOT have Atmos on titles that Vudu does. However the ordering ahead of the 4K release date is mainly because after a movie upgrades to 4K, its “sale” price generally tends to be a bit higher than before*. I realize as a say...

While we await the next Warner Archive Announcements...

I think Opposite Sex will at least be November. They said in the last podcast that it was a computer glitch that announced a preorder prematurely and it would be a few more cycles before it would be ready.

Seems like a relatively safe bet as Warner generally has no issues with 4K upgrades. There’s also a Middle Earth 6-film (extended editions) bundle for $44.95, though a couple of months ago is was $39.99.

Yeah, mine originally redeemed at ITunes but in SD, and even though Movies Anywhere bumped those redemptions up to HD, iTunes doesn’t count it as “their” HD redemption so they won’t upgrade to 4K.

Back to the Future bundle $14.99. A purchase now should get you a free 4K upgrade next month. Since my digital codes originally redeemed in SD, I intend to rebuy the bundle to qualify for the 4K upgrade.

    20th Century Fox's CinemaScope films

This whole conversation about iTunes not having the best transfers has prompted me to take a closer look at the Movies Anywhere app on my Apple TV unit, and I'm finding MA has some superior stuff to iTunes. As you know Disney owns MA and as well as the 20th Century Fox catalog so it's not...
