This will be my first 4K purchase. i love this film (especially the score). I find it to be pretty unsettling ... and certainly not the minor bit of 50s fluff others have labeled it. Im so excited to see it has finally gotten a worthy presentation.
I'll pick this up for the beautiful B&W...for the insane Rococo/Streamline/Deco/stuff-the-entire-screen-with-orchids-and-sequins school of production design...and for everything that comes before the Intermission card. (I can live without the momentum-free 2nd half of this film). This Blu was...
Dance Fools Dance was on laserdisc in the "Crawford and Gable" boxed set. As I recall it looked only marginally better than the VHS. I'll plunk down cash to see pretty much ANY 1930s film transferred
from the OCN, especially pre code. Count me in for this one.
Agreed. Speaking of generational shifts...I have younger friends who just cannot make it through a studio-era film... and not because of them being B&W or "boring"....it's the passive woman/macho man dynamic of many of them sends them running for the exit. And racial elements? Forget it...
I doubt Saratoga is anyone's favorite movie (it's a somewhat morbid film to watch when you know the back story)... but as with so many other recent Warner Archive releases... the insanely beautiful presentation REALLY uplifts films that I used to wave off as routine and forgettable. (they've...
A definite purchase for me, if only to see that glitter dress in HD. I had the privilege of seeing this in 35mm years ago....it's a very handsome film.
This movie is wild. Has been very high on my "holy grail Blu ray" list. I saw this years ago and I couldn't quite believe it was the goody-goody Joan Leslie of "Yankee Doodle Dandy" and endless other Warner Bros ingenue roles. I highly recommend this to B-noir fans hungry for an...
The Raging Tide at last 💪. Tho not top tier noir... Conte and Winters are great in it, and it has been very hard to find. Have been very happy with the quality of these Kino noir sets.
I was pretty blown away by the picture quality of this one ... and by that certain plot twist 3/4 in !
I'd love to see Busby Berkeley's Gold Diggers of 1933 ...and the wild pre-code Wonder Bar (also with Kay Francis) in an extraordinary presentation like this.
Blind purchase for me. Have heard so many good things about this film over the years... excited to finally watch it.
Tho to be honest ....Technicolor Anything from Warner Archive ... I'll likely buy it no matter what the film is. (is Technicolor addiction a thing?)
I stand behind my belief that blind Mr Merkle swinging his cane around and busting through the glass door of W C Fields' store is the funniest thing Ive ever seen in my life. ("ya got that door closed again!...")
Very excited to get this.
Bullets Over Broadway at last!
i'll probably wait for reviews before ordering this ... this company has only released a handful of films on blu and i've never heard of any of them.
