At Last! a High End pre and amp for music AND movies

Ok, I have to admit, like BruceD says, that the tittle of the thread is wrong. It is a preamp designed for MUSIC reproduction, that can be used for HT applications. In any case, I think what is important is to remind that not everybody is happy with the musical abilities of their HT setups...

What recievers allow sub Xover settings?

Lower end receivers tend to be really "secretive" regarding their bass managment specs. I own to low cost receivers, an Onkyo TXSR500 and a Kenwood VR6050. Only the Onkyo have crossover cut settings (80-100-120Hz) but it does not state if the cut is working also on the sats. It can be presumed...

At Last! a High End pre and amp for music AND movies

What does a decoder have to do with the quality of sound? I mean, the components on the preamplifier, in it sound stages, are way more important than the decoding circuit, which, by the way, should be standard. If you were talking about a DAC I would have to agree, but afaik, a decoder is...

At Last! a High End pre and amp for music AND movies

Well, it doubles as a high quality HT solution, but it is designed to listen SACD and DVD-A without "the fuzzy sound of electronics", so to speak, of traditional receivers/processors. All I can say is that it sounds like nothing else I have listened to for music (even costly processors).

DanaA, Yes I remember, the little ADE24, hehe. Nice to see you (your letters, this is). Elinor, Tubes?? Who mention anything about tubes?? :D you will get all the flat response you need (nor that is not possible with tubes, but thats another subject), check the specs, you will be...

At Last! a High End pre and amp for music AND movies

The Daleth is an extraordinary equipment, it is a 5.1 preamplifier designed to hear music but doubles as a High End HT equipment. It can work with an Aleph 5 channel amplifier and it sounds like charm. Best I have listened in a while. You can take a look at them here: www.margules.com

    Best amp for Klipsch speakers

You mean for HT applications? yes, both of them will be good. If you are talking about a dedicated system for music (which can double as a High End HT) then, by all means, look at www.margules.com and take a look at the Daleth preamplifier coupled with an Aleph amplifiers. I have yet to hear...

    What makes a sub musical?

IMO, in this discussions the car analogy works well. Suppose you have a small cheap domestic that happens to be very lightweight. The analogy runs when it is assumed that the small car will always accelerate and stop faster than a heavier car (assuming both can do 20MPH) because of their mass...

    What makes a sub musical?

Hey Edward, those are nice reviews. Have you encounter a room that was "boomy" even with a nice, expensive subwoofer? I have, and also rooms in which even a so called "slow" subwoofer would play "tight and fast". That is how I reached some of my conclusions, testing several subs in several...

    What makes a sub musical?

Exactly, it is as simple as that. The room is far more important than the sub regarding its "musicality" or if it is "fast" or "slow"!

    What makes a sub musical?

It is interesting to see how fast this discussions about "fast bass" degenerate in extreme conceptual attempts to explain what everybody have in their heads. Strange is that, like what happens with cable discussions, everybody is stubborn and thinks the only correct answer is the one he have...

    What makes a sub musical?

Max Well, of course. And you know why in the first instance? Because there is no objetive meaning for "musical" regarding a sub, all we have is a mix of complex answers from many people, that in the end are just opinions, hardly anything of objective value. In any case, I sustain my...
