"A friend owns a Cambridge Soundwokrs store here, so I get all my Marantz info from him, I'll stop by and ask him this weekend if I can". Exellent idea John, If he can give you any information or a place where I can find some, like does the SR-18ex have sound level adjustments through its...
"I've sold many a SR-18EX Receivers @ Cambridge Soundworks and to say the least, it is an awsome sounding receiver. It does not have as many features as the 8200, but as far as audio quality and build quality - it simply mops the floor with the 8200" "When I listened to the 9300 and 8300...
This is the info I got from a forum member at THE SPOT; I've sold many a SR-18EX Receivers @ Cambridge Soundworks and to say the least, it is an awsome sounding receiver. It does not have as many features as the 8200, but as far as audio quality and build quality - it simply mops the floor...
What I gather from this discussion (confusing as it may be) is that in fact the SR-18ex has a better amp-preamp section than that of the 8200 and that the 8 pounds difference in weight in favor of the Sr18ex is not pure coincedence?
I am really hoping for a better pre-amp section since I am using my old Adcom 555II for my left and right channels, and hopefully better dacs than my Denon dvd player for cd sound, not that they Denon's DACs are lousy in anyway but they could be improved upon. The analog input level...
Will it be smart to sale my marantz 8200 receiver and get the Marantz SR-18ex? I am guessing that the SR-18ex will sound better with music but will it sound better with movies? I do not care much about DPL II or cicle surround, etc. All I want is a solid music and movie receiver. I also...
I just found out that even though the information when you play the disc gives you different specs for different songs, in the back cover it states that all recording have a sample rate of 48K and a bit depth of 24. I am sure there's some reference discs out there that have higher sampling...
What is it that everytime I read the display on my Denon 2900 dvd-audio player is different from the specs on the dvd-audio disc? The disc says 16 bits and 48 Khz and the dvd player displays 24 bits and 48 Khz, some songs are recorded at 96 Khz and the dvd player displays 48 Khz. It's 24 bits...
I have done some research on the subject and read many threads about it but I have not found a link to download the new firmware to fix the Alien disc freezing on my Denon 2900 dvd player. Maybe somebody on the forum can help me out.
I bought my Denon 2900 dvd player some months ago and I had not been able to fully enjoy dvd and sacd audio because of the not so great bass management of the Denon. I just found out that the Marantz 8200 gives me the ability to calibrate the 7.1 input section from -10 to +10 which gives me the...
Rich, Of all the suggestions I have gotten so far the Odyssey 165 watt amp looks the most promising to me. It looks like a lot of amp for the buck. exellent reviews and a 20 year warranty..WOW.. That's probably how long the company will be in bussines. I am keeping a close eye on this one but...
Drew, I am leaning more towards buying a solid 2 channel amp and using the Marantz 8200 internal amps for the center and surrounds channels as you suggested. I have been reading great reviews on the Parasound HCA-1500 (205 watts per channel) and the Rotel 1080 (200 watts per channel) I know...
