Speaking from recent experience, I'd avoid Target - their return policy stinks. I registered for some cool stuff at Amazon, but didn't get any of it - guess nobody wanted to fork out $130 for a pool rack :D

If you're serious about getting into lifting, I'd recommend reading Beyond Brawn and The Insider's Tell-All Handbook on Weight-Training Technique - both by Stuart McRobert. Beyond Brawn basically teaches how to go about putting together a safe lifting program. It's weird to read, though...

Erikson's stories are fantastic. They're a bit different from the Jordan and Martin epics in that each book is pretty much a self-contained story. Recurring characters and cross-over events to be sure, but at least you get some closure after committing yourself to these massive works.
