TV as Monitor for Media Center PC

Parker: but again, that's just scaling the image (a monitor that adjusts the signal to the native resolution). TV's do that too: send a 1080i signal to a 768x1366 plasma, and it automatically scales the image (and de-interlaces it). But when we're talking about a PC, there's no reason you...

Yet another which one should I get ???

IMO, LCoS is almost always better than DLP. So, the choice there is easy for me: JVC. I'd go for the FN over the FB though.

Best LCD or DLP Wall Hanging TV For $1500 Max.

A couple of reviews for those Westinghouse 1080p LCD panels: 42" http://www.hometheatermag.com/lcds/506west/ 47" http://www.ultimateavmag.com/flatpan...1006westlvm47/ They liked the 42" better... interesting, you'd think both models would enjoy the same pros and suffer the same cons...

Best LCD or DLP Wall Hanging TV For $1500 Max.

Well, first off, there are no "wall-hanging" DLP tv's in that size range. In fact, there aren't ANY wall-hang-able DLP tv's that I know of. The only RPTV that can be wall mounted is the new 58" LCoS set from JVC, which is way over your budget. So, that leaves flat panel LCD and plasma for you...

TV as Monitor for Media Center PC

This conversation brings up an interesting question I've had for a while... There are many 1080p rptv's that will accept a PC signal via their HDMI port, however, it seems that virtually ALL of them then overscan the resulting image. If the PC is set to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz, and that's the...

HQV tests with PS2 vs dvd player

Jose: I would guess that the Sony upconverting player is affecting the picture via it's processing of it, whereas when you feed the TV a pure 480i signal, it's just the TV's processing that handles the picture. So, it may be that your TV has better processing/scaling/de-interlacing abilities...

simple - I have $3000 which is the best?

To everyone: The tired argument that "you won't see the resolution benefits of 1080p unless you're less than X feet from the screen and/or the screen is XX inches in size" is all but moot now. Here's why: 1080p has become (not becoming, it is) the new standard. All HD discs (hddvd or brd)...

    Best built-in video processing

Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about... a recent review from Ultimate AV of the Mitsubishi WD65831: http://ultimateavmag.com/rearproject...31/index1.html To me, I would NEVER buy this set based on these findings. I watch too much 480i material (DVDs and std. cable TV). I...

    Best built-in video processing

Gregg, I did say that "I'm of the opinion that..." So, to *ME* video processing is *ONE OF* the most important things in getting a good picture. I can not afford a good external processor, so I'd like people's opinion on what sets have good processing. I don't care how good the black...

    Best built-in video processing

So, over the next 6 months or so, I *might* be in a position to purchase a new HDTV. I'll be looking at screens in the 47 to 56" range, under $2k. I'm of the opinion that video processing is one of, if not THE most important part of an HDTV. From PC, to DVD, to game machine, to HD-DBS, to OTA...

I need to ship my SVS 20-39 across the country. I no longer have any of the original packaging. Has anyone had any success doing this? Who (company) did you go with for shipping, and what sort of packaging did you do? Thanks for any advice/help...

    H/K AVR 630 vs. AVR 7200

What about the HK AVR 230 vs. the AVR 325? www.onecall.com has both for about the same price. The 325 has more power, but is last year's model. Any thoughts on which would be the better buy, if price weren't a factor (since they're almost the same cost.)
