UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Raya and the Last Dragon -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

I guess I’m in the minority on this one. I caught it in the theater and everything about it just missed for me. Everything seemed very coldly calculated. Despite putting everything through an Avatar:TLA filter, the design felt super generic, especially with regard to the characters. The...

A Few Words About A few words about…™ Isle of the Dead – in Blu-ray

I hope the rest get restored at some point. I have the rest that have been released. I’m eager to pick this one up in short order. If I hadn’t spent way too much on the last 4/$44 sale, I’d have already done so.

Disney Club Interesting statement ---- does it mean????

If Disney actually released a truly uncut Fantasia or Song of the South, I’d pick them up, (despite a lot of SotS actually being pretty boring) but I’d also be knocked over with a feather, because it’s the last thing I’d ever expect them to do.

A Few Words About A few words about…™ After the Thin Man – in Blu-ray

I haven’t picked it up yet, but it’s a rare WA release that has me thinking about picking it up outside of a 4/$44 sale, especially with the great job they did on the first one. I wish they’d done a set, but I’ll get them one-by-one if that’s what it takes.

PHE Press Release: The Ten Commandments (4k UHD)

I don’t normally upgrade from blu to 4K, but this might be the exception.

So Bad They're Fun movies we still want on Blu-ray

For proof, just pop in Edward Ulmer’s Man from Planet X, where Schallert nearly dooms the Earth while twirling his mustache. I’m glad to have gotten some of my wish list titles from Scream this year. I wouldn’t put Fiend without a Face in my list of “bad” movies. I think it’s genuinely good...

Movies you like for one scene

Disney’s Lone Ranger was a terrible film, but for about 15 minutes towards the end, it forgot it was a dour, overlong mess embarrassed by its subject matter, and turns into a rollicking good time.

WHV Press Release: Perry Mason: The Complete First Season (Blu-ray)

I was excited for a second, but then I realized they were talking about the current series.

    Weekly RoundUp 2-11-2020

FvF is the pick up for me this week. Really enjoyed that one.

New Warner Bros. logo sparks controversy

I don’t mind it so much. I actually enjoy seeing the different variations when I watch older films, and I expect the old shield will return eventually, leaving it as another unique signifier in their history. It also reminds me of the WB Animation logo that appears on most of their DC projects...

'Six People Cut the Cord Every Minute'

I've mostly cut the cord. I have had cable a couple of times over the past 20 years when I've lived with people who wanted it, and I've had Sling a couple of times over the summer specifically for watching the Royals when I could. (Sadly, this year they stink AND I am working during most of...

    Podcasts Discussing Movies

I'm a big fan of 80s All Over. I'm also getting into Hammer House of Podcast where they're going through the Hammer horror films in order from Quatermass through the 70s. They're only about a dozen episodes in (including their Patreon bonus episodes) so it's a good one to jump on. If I may...

How badly does Amazon package your Blu-ray and 4k discs?

I mostly lurk here, but this discussion raised my hackles and sucked me in. I, too, have had a much bigger issue with Amazon's shipping packaging and policies recently (especially the last year or so) which have caused me to consider dropping Prime altogether since that's the main reason I get...

Robert Harris on The Bits - 10/3/02 column - OFFICIAL THREAD

How could I forget Cannibal?!? Hell, I OWN that disc. It's a great one, btw. Thanks to the folks at Troma. "Lets build a snowman, we can make him our best friend! We can make him tall or we can make him not so tall we can call him George or we can call him Beowolf! Snowman..." I think...

Robert Harris on The Bits - 10/3/02 column - OFFICIAL THREAD

Hard to believe no one's brought it up, but whenever someone asks me my favorite musical, I have but one answer: The Blues Brothers And it is a true musical because it has many spontaneous burts of song, not just on stage. (i.e.: Ray's Music Exchange, The Diner, etc.) not to mention numbers...
