    Please double-check my sub idea...

It has been a very long time since I posted to HTF. I recently decided it is time for a subwoofer. I have been doing without one for more than 2 years now, and it's time for something new. I am an apartment dweller, so I am extremely bass-limited. Recently I have decided that I just don't...

    Panasonic SC-HT95 good enough?

Gus, I don't know how much I can help you, since I don't own any of the stuff you are having problems with. One quick word of advice also : please don't start multiple threads with the same question. It is considered bad netiquette, especially since you posted them within a few hours of each...

    Best sounding op-amp?

Dave, HTF doesn't get questions like yours very often. I think there is a forum that is better suited to answer your question. Please check out DIYaudio. They have a lot of expertise in audio electronics, and indeed you will find some spirited discussions about the sound of op-amps.

Panasonic/ Technics Recievers and Consumer Reports

Kevin, I would like to take a stab at answering your question: No answer here should deter you from listening to this unit. Unfortunately, critical listening in the store is always a bad idea, because acoustics usually suck. I'll let you decide the best venue to listen to it, based on how...

THD and DAC specs - how important?

I think I can help a little with these questions. RMS (Root Mean Square) power output is a way of measuring the power of a signal that is constantly changing. This means the RMS power value would be equivalent to the power of a device driving a purely constant (voltage)x(current) value of...

Using autosound linedriver for HT sub amps

Whoops. I just realized you guys weren't talking about amps. I haven't heard of what a 'line driver' is, but I'm guessing it is some sort of small redrive device? Don't know what kind of power requirements it needs, but anything in the 100 mA category can be sourced from a wall transformer.

Using autosound linedriver for HT sub amps

Guys, be careful. Driving car amps in your house is not as easy as finding a 12v supply. The big fat reason is : wattage. I'm guessing these amps are going to pump out 100+ watts, which means that the power supply driving these suckers has to source probably around 167 W (for a low efficiency...

    I'm so screwed

TerryC, Jeff, and Dustin : Thank you for the sage advice. I think my plan of attack is now this: 1) Buy the carbide cutter bit reccomended by Terry. See if I can get the bolt head off that way. 2) If that fails, I have a friend with a workshop at his house, with a nice drill press. He...

    I'm so screwed

Guys, please help me. I am in a bad spot. Here is the lowdown: I am currently finishing off a complete set (sans sub) of Audax HT speakers. All of them are functional and assembled, but the finish has not yet been applied. After testing my two surround channels (they sounded great), I was...

just a few quick questions about my DVD ROM in my computer, please help

Zane, I need to forewarn you that I don't work with PC based HT gear, but I think I might be able to help you with your problem. Based on your description, I understand that your problem is with the audio portion, not video. Video should work 'out of the box' if you use a software based DVD...

    Hum and Hiss HELL!

Joe, try doing this also: In addition to John Morris' good advice, check for the existence of two things:[list=1]A grounding bolt on your pre (the Yamaha). They are usually marked with a 'GND' symbol. These bolts are almost always located on the back of the unit, with a little washer around...
