    overpowering a sub(but just by a little)

Could you explain a little more why you would blow your sub? Most of the time you won't be running at a volume level where you would be acheiving 1000+ watts. If you set your gain well and don't play at excessive levels I don't think you would blow the sub?

    Which amplifier for temporary system?

But it is still possible to use my ipod as my source. As it is only a temporary solution, I think I can deal with the sound quality. It looks like the best bang for the buck would be the Outlaw 770 amplifier, any other opinions? This would give me a good option to creating a good HT and...

Why do I need a preamp stage? Why can't I connect my ipod to the amplifier and use the ipod's volume control?

    Which amplifier for temporary system?

Not really looking into a receiver since I think seperates are the way to go for upgradability and SQ purposes. I would like an amp that I would beable to use in my future system. I guess I'll put a price point of ~700-800. I'm not worried too much about the sound, running my ipod with a...

    Floorstanding vs Bookshelf

Well normally floorstanding speakers use the full enclosure space. I'm guessing it would have better low end response?

    Floorstanding vs Bookshelf

You mean by sealing it and extending it right? So the volume is the same?

    Floorstanding vs Bookshelf

I'm thinking about starting a HT project. I am wondering what the pros and cons are for floorstanding vs bookshelf speakers. I have always liked the look of floorstanding speakers but it seems like there are more projects for bookshelf speakers. Any information/help would be appreciated...

TB 6.5" Subwoofer - By The Way...

Sorry if this is off the topic, but what exactly is a passive radiator for? I understand the concept I think, use energy from another speaker's movement to supply its own movement? I have seen these speakers come up the last few days (this thread and the new GR sub thread) not understanding them.

Need help - wiring line array to keep 8 ohms

Resistance in series: R = R1 + R2 + ... Resistance in parallel: 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + ... So you can wire two speakers you get a 16 ohm load. Do this with another set you have the other 16 ohm load. Then you parallel this configuration to get an 8 ohm load. I hope that helps. You...

Good Place to Learn about Woodworking

Want to learn some tricks and such so I can improve in my box building. Right now I have a good straight edge for the circular saw, a radial arm saw that needs to be realigned, a router, and of course a drill. Never taken any type of shop classes so I need to learn a little. Thanks

    Cheap Table Saw

There's a table saw on sale at Menards for $88...wondering it was worth buying for DIY stuff? Its a 10" table saw with stand and 28tooth carbide tipped blade. Looks to be a pro-tech from the ad. Any info would be awesome.
