Any luck with getting the smell out? I've been airing my copy for about a day now without much luck. IIRC, it was easier with the first BOTD.

I'm also worried about the apparent loss of detail...

A more convincing case (for male viewers, at least) for the benefits of open matte could be made by citing as an example Jackie Brown, or should I say Bridget Fonda. :)

Back when I got the Book of the Dead Edition of the first film, I left it on the balcony for a day. That got rid of (most of) the smell nicely.

So how about some more screen caps? :)

Could somebody post more screen caps of the censored shotgun-blast-to-the-head scene? (I already looked at DVDBeaver's review.) I'm still on the fence about this one - I'd love to get the R1 for the extras etc., but having seen the uncensored version of the scene, I'd hate to lose it.

That's the oldest trick in the book, often used for ironic effect (see also: A Clockwork Orange and Natural Born Killers). The trailer in question aimed more at reverence, though, but it's still very common to use contrasting music in a trailer - in fact, it seems that most action/adventure...
