Help me buy my next TV

I recommend Sony TVs. They have wonderful pictures, realistic color and they last. My 55" 1080P I bought 11 years ago for a Super Bowl party still produces a beautiful picture. The 55" 800G 4K I bought last year for another room is even better - sometimes the picture looks like a live...

Optoma CinemaX P1 4K UHD/HDR Short Throw Laser Projector

For the uninformed (me): what happens when your AVR reads a Dolby Vision source and sends that signal on to a projector like this one that doesn't support DV? Does it just display the source material in a UHD format it can process or does it not display an image at all (like, getting an error...

Has anyone seen or purchased a Vava UST Projector?

Wow - you're right. I didn't even notice the 3,000:1 contrast ratio - compared to the Optoma at 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio. That's low as hell. Seems the user reviews posted on the site are a little bogus.

Has anyone seen or purchased a Vava UST Projector?

I'm doing some comparison 'shopping' prior to going EITHER 85' Sony 900F or a 4K projector/screen. I really don't want to hang a projector off the ceiling though and the USTs seemed more interesting. I've seen Robert Zohn's comparison review between the Optoma P1 and the LG 4K UST projectors...

Has anyone seen or purchased a Vava UST Projector?

https://www.vava.com/p/4k-ultra-short-throw-laser-projector This looks pretty amazing and has a very nice price. I was interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen this projector in action or better yet, owns one.

Thanks for the offer, Robert. I'll keep that offer on hand as I get to the point where I'm ready to buy and outfit the home theater. Appreciate it. Does the Optoma Cinemax P1 support Dolby Vision and is that something that should be a consideration if the AVR supports it?

Optoma CinemaX P1 4K UHD/HDR Short Throw Laser Projector

Thanks Matt. Great to know you're loving it. I think I've settled on the idea of the projector over a large-screen TV for my media room/home theater. With a projector and screen, it will be a home theater rather than just a media room which is what I really wanted to begin with. By the time...

Optoma CinemaX P1 4K UHD/HDR Short Throw Laser Projector

@Robert, Thanks. That's kind of what I thought. I didn't think you could replace a laser component.

Optoma CinemaX P1 4K UHD/HDR Short Throw Laser Projector

Thanks Malcolm. That's reassuring to know. I read reviews A LOT and I like to focus on those that are negative to see if there is a pattern of complaints and see the manufacturer's responses. Good to hear that a real LONG TIME user is happy with them.

Optoma CinemaX P1 4K UHD/HDR Short Throw Laser Projector

Robert; wow! Thanks for that. I'm brand new to HT layout and equipping and that's why I'm here trying to avoid mistakes when I put this together. I have a relatively small room carved out for a media room (12-6 x 16-4) with only one window, so I think it's perfect for a UST projector rather...

Optoma CinemaX P1 4K UHD/HDR Short Throw Laser Projector

Anxiously awaiting this comparative review. I am planning a home theater in a new home that will be built over the next 9 months in Florida and I'm waffling between an 85" Sony 900F and a projector. I'm a little concerned about the verified purchaser reviews on Amazon I've seen on the Optoma...

    Not Sure Where to Begin

Good deal! Thanks a million, John. I'll go with forward-firing surround speakers and normal in-ceiling speakers.

    Not Sure Where to Begin

So just about every valuable question regarding the speakers has been answered but the answers have spawned one more and it involves the in-ceiling speakers. I've seen in-ceiling speakers with adjustable drivers to fire towards the viewing area. Are these worthwhile or in a room with 9'...
