i know what you mean...im in that boat. i got lucky and stumbled across a like new 20-39 PC+, it totally blew my old sub away. The darla tap scene freaked my boxer(dog) out, and wife was worried about the beam in living room falling:D
They are both good recivers, the 705 has a few more options and has pre outs, if you dont plan on adding an amp later, i would get the 605. But if you do some checking around, you might be able to find an 805 pretty reasonable. I have an 805 and love it, but will be upgrading to seperates soon.
well i got it installed...not bad, not bad at all. I was hoping i didnt waste 500.00, but turns out, it works great for the application. I installed it in the bedroom, on top of the tv armoir, with a onkyo 605 receiver and an older cht12 velodyne sub, with a sony 40v3000 lcd.....wife loves it:D
i read that in the newest mag..thats what got my wife interested. I went ahead and ordered one, going to use a onkyo 605 receiver and a velodyne sub that i already had. hopefully i will get it installed before the weekend.

I have the 805 and love it. It does run warm, i have a fan in my cabinet though exhausting hot air. This is my 2nd onkyo receiver, and i would buy another onkyo in a heartbeat.
what a bummer...i hope you can get your money back. I got burnt on here last year on a receiver...ended up losing 300.00, the forums banned the member, atleast that would keep him from scamming another member. as far as paypal...good luck!! I contacted them when i got burnt and about all they...
after i finished the audessey setup on my 805, i then went in and manually calibrated my speakers. It helped alot, audessey had all my speakers set to -5 or more, and had my sub at -12, ended up only being 69db at 0 reference. I set mine up to 75db at 0 reference. Now i usually watch a dvd at...
