the atoms are great.. but just like they said, you'd ahve to go without a sub with taht budget.. otherwise... i'd suggest going with the jbl nsp-1 package for around $225 online (give or take some money ) and possibly stretching your budget just a smidgen for a b-stock Hsu VTF-2 for $399...
i would suggest mirage avs-100's which i personally own and love since they are small, sleaed design (so no ports to worry about) and sound great at a good price www.miragespeakers.com and energy take 2's would be their half siblings i've also heard nht superzeros are great as well
i think that the mirance frx-3's are unbeatable at that price, and in my opinion they compete with the likes of the ascend 170's, and best them IMHO you can also take a look at energy connoisseur c-1's and c-3's, and also mirage omni50 bookshelves in terms of axiom's i have never heard...
maybe if you went for the hk525 and wouldnt mind getting a refurbed one from onecall or from hk's ebay account and sprong for a pb2+ for teh sub..that would be killer
check out the signature series subs based on adire drivers at www.diycable.com the 18" version should be able to question the structural integrity of your home pretty nicely.... or dual 15"'s otherwise the svs's should be great
i'd also reccomend the audiosource sw-fifteen/15 you can check out the mods that you need to do to it at audioreview.com http://audioreview.com/Subwoofers/Au...1_2741crx.aspx i have it, paid $140 shipped for it at ebay new for home theater... this thing can't be beat for great low end...
if you dont mind getting bigger speakers i have mirage avs-200 speakers (almost identical to th energy take's) and energy c-1's the size of the c-1's allows for much fuller sound and i think sound much better for slightly more money, and are a great deal
another idea is what i did to my audiosource sw-15 (gotta love those audiosources for modding) i used to have just 3-4 lbs of stuffing all around the sub, but once i saw the promo (dont nkow if its still going on) from parts express for the $10 vibration dampening spray used mostly for auto...
i own mirange avs-200s for my fronts and a avs-100 for my center which are supposed to be almost identical with the energy take's except for a different tweeter so i vote for them as well for a compact speaker...they mirages have more laid back cruved look while the takes are sharper with...
h/k's are nice units in your price range as well in case you're able to try one out, the 325 fits in yoru price range and the 525Z does also i think. and you get multi room/7.1 capabilites
