Good luck, I tried the same RCA remote, 2 Sony touchscreens, a Radioshack, and a Sima touchscreen for my HK 525 and nothing worked. I consolidated a bunch of remotes down to two however, a Sima touchscreen and the original HK. I'd love to have a backlite touchscreen to run all my gear sense my...
I just added an Adcom GFA-555 200watt per channel to my basement HT and the results are incredible. I'm using it with a HK525 receiver in a very large basement HT. It makes a huge improvement as I had to push the HK to the verge of clipping to get the sound pressure levels in range and thus the...
How old is your Shiva? I had one do the same thing - spider separated from the basket and Adire sent a replacement under warranty. If is is out of warranty it is still worth a call to Adire as it sounds like this might be a manufacturing defect as it has affected several member's drivers. Good luck.
As pointed out above make sure your amp can handle the 4ohm load. If it can not and you have to have a small speaker you can always do a sealed AV-3 which will run at 8ohms. I cannot speak to the AV-2 but I am running a pair of AV-3's with a sealed AV-3 center and the sound quality is very very...
Howdy everyone, I was looking for your opinion as I have not found a place to place both these brands head to head. I'm looking to spend around 400 or so dollars on the used market for a 2 channel amp that I will not have to upgrade for a long while. The Adcom GFA-555 200 watt per channel seems...
Are you building from a kit? It is my understanding that the amount of polyfill and dampening is accounted for in the design and differing amounts will change the tonal characteristics. I think I'd ask the designer or if that is not possible perhaps someone here with a lot more knowledge could...
When building my GR AV-3's I opted for a more economical "homebrew" version of Blackhole-5. I glued thick vinyl floor tile into the cabinets then glued acoustic foam onto that. It worked great - the AV-3's absolutely sing. The best part is Home Depot sells them for 59 cents for a 12' x 12' tile.
Well, I guess I'm out on an island here.... I kinda dig the new CD, mellow yes, but very "listenable," U2's sound has definitely changed over the years - much like the progression of Pearl Jam, I guess they are just maturing...
Here's another idea, instead of spending money on better gear seeing as you already have good stuff, perhaps invest in some good room treatments. It would be far cheaper (perhaps more impactful) and with the money saved you could then apply the same funds towards a weekend trip, software, etc. -...
Don't worry about an amp not having a volume control as your marantz will take that responsibility when ran via the preouts. It will behave exactly like your receiver now except the signal will bypass the internal amps and will be amplified by the external amp. You will have to recalibrate your...
I owned a pair of these for several years, if they fit into your decor I think you will be happy with them for under $300. They really require a lot of power to bring out their potential and do have the tendancy to be a bit on the bright side which might cause some fatigue. The plus though is...
Sorry for the simple question here, but I read a lot of technical jargon last night and confused myself silly. When setting up a sub is it best to: 1. set the gain on the sub amp at 1/3 or 1/2 and make the corrections with the pre/pro 2. set the pre/pro sub level to zero and adjust the...
Okay this is an easy one, has anyone been successful in finding a universal remote (hopefully a touchscreen LCD) that can learn the hk codes. I have tried a Sima touchscreen, an RCA rcu1010 and now a Sony RM-AV2500 and none seem to be able to operate the 525. The Sony came the closest in that it...
