I have a klipsch subwoofer and 2 decent JBL bookshelfs that I want to use for my ipod in my bedroom. Since these speakers arent powered do I need an amplifier? Should I just buy another reciever to power the speakers? Any other way to use a subwoofer with an ipod? Thanks everyone! JP

Good point about generalizing...my bad. Sony has been good to me over the years and my DVD player has been great.

Thanks everyone! It seems like each has their own, of course. PLII is great when the signal is good. Various DSP modes seem to distort the sound too much. And like Jim, I prefer to recline on my couch when watching.

Was just wondering what reciever settings you all use when watching TV (basic cable, news, ESPN, MTV, HBO...) I seem to be switching around from DSP settings (TV Logic)to PLII to stereo. Any "right" answer?

Onkyo TXsr500...klipsch SC1, Bose 301 fronts, klipsch RW8 sub, old small JBL rears... What do you think about bringing my Bose 301's back as rears (I know...but shouldn't they do alright there?...lets be honest and keep the Bose hating to a minumum) and maybe getting Klipsch SB2 as fronts???

I've been tooling around with PLII. It sounds great with HBO and other movies on cable. My question is this...can ALL signals coming through my cable box be split into ProLogic or does it need to be precoded? What setting is best when just listening to regular Dan Rather..Simpsons...ESPN??? I...
