For some reason the Circuit City's in and around Birmingham have them falling out of the racks they're so plentiful. I know the one I go by most often has like, 15 in the bargain rack for $9.99.
I think the sequence of outtakes in Jaws, with Roy Scheider and the gun that jams like, half a dozen times in a row, is hilarious. He's about ready to throw it in the ocean the last time.
There are *such* good storylines that came out of the Byrne/Claremont era. They used elements of "Days of Future Past" in the first film but the crux of that arc hasn't even been touched yet and then there's the "Proteus" story arc, the amazing "Phoenix" arc and all the great characters that...
I've read criticisms on how over the top he was in The Professional but as immensely gifted an actor as he is, it was obviously by choice and something he'd worked out with the director. I love the performance, myself. He's like the anti-christ with a badge. I group him with Sean Penn, who also...
The Civil War was such a tremendously well done documentary. I can't even express how well done it was. I remember back when it first started to air on PBS, stumbling across it and literally becoming entranced by it. Even being a bit of a history buff and knowing the outcomes of battles, what...
I think Scooby-Doo will take a nose dive. Kids may want to see it but with Spiderman and Episode II and the generally good reviews both films are getting and a few adult themes in both flicks, parents will do some "but wouldn't you rather see..." manipulation. Parents want to make their kids...
With taxes and everything figured in, mine comes to around $13.00 per DVD in a collection of 203. Maybe just slightly less. Columbia House has lowered the high average I started out with from paying full price for a few mainstream titles a great deal.
Demon With a Glass Hand is probably the best science fiction episode of any series or anthology I've ever seen. Pretty pure stuff. I saw (and taped) several Outer Limits episodes back in the mid-90's when TNT had Outer Limits marathons. Does anyone else remember that? The Sixth Finger is...
To get in on this Fulci tangent a little, I've seen 2 Fulci films, The Beyond and Zombie, and both of them are basically a series of set-ups for very detailed and gory scenes. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that but because of it, I don't really see Fulci's work as comparable to Romero's...
It doesn't bother me too much to be honest. I could live with the director, screenwriter and cast doing some combination of commentary tracks but there are definitely people into the DOP and other such specialized people contributing tracks so I'm ok with it.
It's not been mentioned yet but Anchor Bay is also working on an SE of the great and underrated Nicholas Roeg film The Man Who Fell to Earth. I learned this after ordering the Fox/Lorber edition from Columbia House (lol).
FWIW, I think I have as many Anchor Bay DVDs as any of the other bigger...
Over half of my DVDs have been purchased via Columbia House. It really is the best way to go about collecting mainstream DVDs for the least amount of money. For Criterions and hard to find titles though, DeepDiscountDVD is generally the way to go.
As to B+M's, one not mentioned too much...
