The Battlestar Galactica appreciation thread (Spoilers!)

Cracking good episode, looks like the Cylons have got Gaius by the short and curlies now. Laughed out loud during the scene where he meets 6 in the flesh.

The Battlestar Galactica appreciation thread (Spoilers!)

I agree with you Chris - nice twist with the Cylon ship. I don't think all Cylon are partly organic. Pretty sure the soldiers are not. Get the feeling they're at the bottom of the evolutionary tree i.e. cannon fodder and the Cylon ships are one step above that. Maybe they see the use of organic...

The Battlestar Galactica appreciation thread (Spoilers!)

As usual another great episode on Monday. Liked what they did with the Cylon ship. Whoever is writing this stuff deserves a medal. 5 episodes and they haven't dropped the ball on one of them yet. Long may it continue.

The (slightly extreme) dangers of overclocking...

Overclocking came about because the opportunity arose to do so. Nothing to do with whether an application needed it or not. And that follows to this day. 1.5 GHz/or its AMD equivalent - fine if you're happy running Word and surfing the net. But it doesn't cut it in the real world of video...

Battlestar Galactica remake: Time to weep openly

Damm, just watched the last episode with Richard Hatch. What a way to make a comeback! No spoilers but I think this was the best episode so far and there have been no bad ones so far. For those in the States who aren't getting the series yet you are in for a real treat. The main and...

Battlestar Galactica remake: Time to weep openly

I believe it had something to do with Sky in the UK putting up a lot of the money. Personally I don't understand why it couldn't have been released simultaneously. Given the rampant distribution of shows via the internet these days they're losing viewers by leaving it till next year. In an...

    All's not well with Porsche

I drive a Lotus Elise with MMC brakes (aluminum and Silicon carbide matrix), similar idea to the Porsche system very light weight and very hard wearing. However I've melted two discs on the track because they can't take the punishment they get on the track. They are fine for 'spirited' driving...

    AMD vs Pentium

The heat issue is an interesting one, since the current P4's run hotter than the equivalent AMD chips. Athlon XP-3200+ 60.4W Typical dissipation 76.8W max dissipation P4-3.2C 82W Thermal design power. Max dissipation figures >100W Click for source At the end of the day AMD has...

    Rugby

Don't know if there is any coverage in the States but the Rugby Union World cup kicks off this weekend. Rugby is New Zealands national sport and we're favorites to win this time round. The US is there, currently ranked 14th in the world. First game for the US is on Wednesday the 15th of October...

Anyone use synthetic motor oil instead of regular?

Just to expand on some of the comments. Modern engines are build to much tighter tolerances and require far less time to bed in. In fact as has been mentioned some manufacturers start with synthetic oil. For older engines that have been running regular oil for some time changing to synthetic can...

"Smart" cars - will they become available in the US?

You can always get this next year in the States... It's a Lotus Elise before you ask ;)

    My Sony STR-DA4ES is RUINED!

I don't understand why you are taking this thing back to the repair shop at this stage. They have made it clear the warrantly is toast so the least you can do is have a go at cleaning it up and seeing if it works first. I also don't generally trust repair shops to do the 'right' thing.
