What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Charley Varrick (1973) - I don't remember ever seeing this Don Siegel directed film before which seem surprising, but it didn't do well at the box office so maybe that's why. Walter Matthau stars as a small time bank robber who runs afoul of the mob and a hitman played by Joe Don Baker. After...

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Wagon Master (1950) - I love this John Ford western so much, but this was our first time watching the Warner Archive release that came out last year. It's a beautifully structured and filmed story about a wagon train headed west and a gang of killers on the run. There are no big name stars but...

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

It was a busy, long weekend for us and by Monday afternoon we crashed. We watched a double feature catching up on some of the Twilight Time discs I bought in their final sales. Both were Cinemascope, color, film noir (or at least noirish). Black Widow (1954) - Van Heflin plays a Broadway...

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Yesterday, I had the rare opportunity for a double feature: two 1948 Robert Mitchum westerns on Warner blu-rays. First up was Rachel and the Stranger with Mitchum, Loretta Young, and William Holden. Holden plays a widowed father who acquires an indentured servant (Young) to care for his house...

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Nowhere in Africa (2001) - I'm not sure I had even heard of this Academy Award winning film before buying the Kino Lorber blu-ray. I know I had not seen it previously. It's a German film about a relatively prosperous, urban Jewish family who leaves Germany during the rise of the Third Reich and...

Odd display problem on HTF/Community page

I'm having the same issue using Firefox 78.0.2 on Windows 10. The full forum list does not display using HTF style when signed in. It does display in that style when signed out. The UI.X style works as expected. I reproduced it on two different Win 10 laptops.

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Seven Days in May (1964) - I'd seen this political drama before, but my wife had not. We watched the Warner blu-ray. I really like this film for its terrific cast, well told story, and continuing relevance. My wife was a less enthusiastic; she wanted some stronger female characters and I...

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Beau Brummell (1954) - We watched the Warner blu-ray of this costume drama last night. I don't think either of us had seen it before. I'll just echo what bujaki said above; it's a very enjoyable film with a terrific cast.

How are you dealing with life now with the Covid-19 virus situation?

This is exactly what I keep thinking about when they talk about reopening schools. My kids are grown and out of the house now, but when they were in school I would get sick every September. They might have with a runny nose for a bit while I'd end up missing a couple of days of work. Make...

    Barefoot in the Park (1967) - 9/15/2020

This is one of my wife's favorite movies and we don't have it on blu-ray. One more for the collection....

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Garden of Evil (1954) - I am slowly working my way through the pile of Twilight Time blu-rays I picked up in their final sales. This one is a solid western directed by Henry Hathaway in CinemaScope and with some fantastic location footage from Mexico. Susan Hayward plays a woman who hires four...

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

The Prisoner of Second Avenue (1975) - Last night was our first chance to sit down and really enjoy a movie in awhile. My wife picked this one from our pile of unwatched blu-rays. I had vague memories of seeing it before; she didn't remember it at all. Jack Lemmon and Anne Bancroft are marvelous...

How are you dealing with life now with the Covid-19 virus situation?

My wife and I just came back from a socially distant vacation. We had plans for a very different type of summer vacation, but the coronovirus put an end to that. We still wanted to get away for a few days but also wanted to do it safely, so we rented a cabin in the Adirondacks near Saranac...
