I'm a big fan of Goodbye, Mr. Chips, and I've been waiting for a blu-ray release for years now. Being a teacher, I re-read the book every few years. I'm looking forward to seeing the blu-ray soon!

Thanks for the info, Ron! I'll be picking this up when the price drops a bit. Who knows - maybe it'll inspire me to get a 3D setup at some point in the future!
A question, if I may...
Is the audio on the 2D version that is included also in DTS-HD? I don't have 3D capabilities (yet) on my system, but would appreciate an upgrade in audio over the previously-released 2D version, which only had compressed audio.
Thanks!
Thanks, Mr. Harris, for your reply. I'm using either a Panasonic DMP-BD55 or an LG BD630. Neither of these players have the subtitle-moving functionality that you mentioned. In fact, of the players whose manuals I've checked since reading your post, only the Oppo seems to have that feature...
Mr. Harris -
First, thanks for your views and analyses of the movies that you provide in this forum. I appreciate your contributions to the field of cinematography and hope to continue reading your posts for a long time to come.
I wanted to toss out the following to you as you might be a...
I've just bought a region-free Blu-Ray player. Yay! But I don't have any more shelf space available on my audio rack. I do have room, though, to place one Blu-Ray player on top of another (or on top of a DVD player). Is this a safe thing to do? The players don't seem to give off much heat, so...
I'm wondering where the Japanese subtitles are located. Are they within the image frame, or do they fall outside of the image into the black bars? I have a 2.35:1 system, and so if the subtitles are in the black bars then Fox has lost a sale. Thanks.
I know there are quite a few places to see English-language Blu-rays reviewed (HTF being a superlative example!), but does anybody have any insights as to where to go to get reviews of foreign films, especially those that haven't been released in the US or UK? I'm specifically wondering about...
In case anybody cares, Fox has placed the subtitles for this movie split between the picture frame and the "black bar" below - rendering them partially (but effectively wholly) unreadable for anyone who has a 2.35:1 screen. @#!!& Fox. I now have an imported copy that I can't really watch...
I've never been a big fan of having two unrelated movies in the same case, so I ordered KH from amazon.co.uk. I hope it's the same - or better! - transfer. It has always been a favorite of mine for mindless fun!
Bridge on the River Kwai Guns of Navarone Das Boot But I'll say right now that any Sony disc that has the subtitles below the image (such as Mask of Zorro) is a NO SALE. With a 2.35:1 screen, I can't see those subtitles. So do the intelligent thing, Sony, and put the subtitles where they...
I'm curious as to whether the UK disc is the same as the US release and whether the UK disc is region free. Does anyone have the answer to these questions? Thx.
I just bought the BD35. I need to return it for other reasons, but I had a question about the loudness of the player. When I first put a disc in, you hear the whirring sounds of the disc spinning. This continues while you're in the main menu. When you play the movie, the whirring sound stops. Is...
