I think all forum posts should be limited to speakers that people bought but DIDN'T like. Most people who buy almost all of the better branded speakers discussed here are happy with their decision. Oh yeah, and my Axioms are better than your Rockets :) Frank
John, M22s are considered very similar to the M60s and share the same tweeter. The M40tis don't seem to be that popular over at the Axiom forums. Probably since most people either step up to the M60s or like the M22 for for the smaller size. I've got the M22/VP150/QS4 combo and love it. My...
You guys are missing the point of tricking the wife. Buy bigger furniture! It makes the sub look small. Bigger TV, bigger couch. You get the drift. Frank
Jim, I'd go (actually I did go) with the QS4 surrounds and the VP150 center if you can swing them. The M2is would make good rears. Also if you go to the Factory Outlet at the Axiom site, you'll save %10. Email amie@axiomaudio and ask if they have what you want in the factory outlet. Some times...
Michael, I have the M22, VP150, and QS4s that are all from the Axiom factory "blem" outlet. The only blemish I have found on any of them is a very small scratch on the BOTTOM of the VP150 center channel. It is so thin, I thought it was a piece of hair. About 1 1/2 inches long and again, on the...
Michael, Where are you located? You can always find people on this and other forums (like the 10 others Curtis hangs out at :) ) that will let you audition some of the speakers you're looking into. Axiom and the Rocket guys both have forums where you can find people in your neck of the woods to...
Since nobody is backing you on your first choice, I will. The M22s are great. I would try and step up to the VP150 center. Keep in mind you can get cheaper speakers at the Axiom Outlet on their website. That's where I got all my stuff and I can't see any sort of blemish on any of them. I've...
Ditto what gus said on the 525Z. But no visual (or audio) problems whatsoever. They do seem to have upped their prices on all HK refurbs a bit. Got my 525 for $499 + shipping. I think it's $549 now. Frank
I found a deadbolt on the door to my HT room works just as well! That and sound proofing = High HAF (husband acceptance factor). Actually when we were shopping for houses, we agreed I get the basement and garage and she gets the rest of the house. Works for me. :) Frank
Jay, After my initial attempts at priming/painting my Shiva tube I said screw it and bought 3m adhesive spray and black box carpet from PE. Pretty easy to cut and easy to glue on and have looking nice. You could always use a different color carpet too and it's less messy than painting. The wax...
Unless your tube legs and endcaps are over 8 inches in height, you can always take the tube inside side ways. It's 30 diameter and only 22 inches high. Worst case you put the legs on once it's inside the room. You just can't take it OUT of the room ;)
Frank
I can't hear the fan at all in my 525. The 525 has all the needed modes for HT along with flexible bass management. What more do you need in terms of bells and whistles? I probably don't use 3/4 of the features of the 525 but it's does a great job with movies and music. I initially...
