Is it just me or does it look like Malick is just continuing his The Thin Red Line in that trailer? Between the peaceful and spiritual indigenous peoples (who love swimming under water) and the violent, seaborne westerners who bring along our lone wide-eyed protagonist wanting to go from one...
Glocks as plastic guns that are undetectable by metal detectors, when in fact, Glocks have a great deal of metal in them. People being thrown back violently when shot by almost anything. In reality the bullet has most power when fired so thanks to Newton we know that the shooter should be...
A 1936 German U-Boot wouldn't have a snorkel. ;) But it's a movie, and a damned good one so I don't care too much how Indy hopped a ride on the submarine..
Shawshank. The rooftop beer scene, the poster/tunnel scene, Andy in the rain, the warden opening up the book, and of course the final scene in Mexico. All are fantastic.
I hate this censorship of supposedly "bad" words. In what way are they bad, will they offend people? Will hearing them cause children to lead immoral lives?
The best part of it is how words are edited out but not other things.

I'm curious how did you percive Viktor's scarifice of his commitment to his father's 50 year long dream to get all the jazz musicians' autographs? Viktor (a white man) gave it all up to protect a black man, an Indian man and a hispanic man. How did you overlook that when thinking about "racism"...

How about an epic about the African slave trade? It may be uncomfortable for some people but the fact is that nearly every black slave was captured, processed and sold by powerful African tribes who raided their neighbors for slaves and they made a major industry of this setting up huge and...
Its a human story and I belive that hardcore film buff types if they cannot step away from viewing all movies as a technical, mechanical and functional "art" will probably miss the point entirely. The story is what makes it so popular and enduring with normal people, and people far outnumber...
Das Boot and Stalingrad are great for German accents. I imagine the full range of emotional states in those war movies, from calm friendly converstation to deadly terror, would be useful for an actor to hear different voice intonnations etc..
I gotta say I enjoyed it a lot, though I was not really expecting to like it going into the theater. The beginning was somewhat weak IMO, the action was almost pointless even if very well done and Arnold's comedic entry scene seemed misplaced compared to his debut in T2 and T. At some point...
