The Wonder Years: UK Set Vs US Set Question

My Fabulous Films set of Automan is PAL, not NTSC. As I recall they used an NTSC->PAL converted transfer so the runtimes are about equal to that of the US broadcast but the discs are very much formatted for PAL equipment.

USHE Press Release: Jaws (1975) (4k UHD)

    Still with the lossy mono?

American TV shows that only got complete disc releases in other countries

To the best of my knowledge these countries would rely on dubbing or voice-over, at least that's what is usually the case with the multi-territory dvds and blu-rays that I've entered into databases. They usually also offer subtitles in said languages.

American TV shows that only got complete disc releases in other countries

Scandinavia, Finland, Holland, Belgium and likely Luxemburg as well don't dub films or series (unless aimed at far younger audiences) and subsequent dvd/blu-ray-releases are featured with the original audio. Funnily enough, season 16 of NCIS features no subtitles for the Scandinavian market as...

    Silver Bullet (Collector’s Edition) – Blu-ray Review

Same transfer as the Umbrella, just with a dash of filtering to *cough*improve*cough* the image. Notice how the bird's wings disappear on the Scream BD. https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x=436&y=301&d1=13669&d2=13668&s1=138074&s2=138067&l=1&i=10&go=1

    International BLU-RAY DISCS FROM GERMANY

Well, they have to if they are going to make this look passable on BD. I've just spot checked the European 2007 Paramount DVD and there is no way in H E double hockey-stick that same master would be used for a high def release. No way, no how. It's an awful NTSC->PAL conversion as well, to make...

    International BLU-RAY DISCS FROM GERMANY

Universal Germany claims it is a new scan and will not be an upscale or a so called "SD Blu-ray". I am cautiously optimistic.

    Drowning in 'New reply' notifications.

I don't see the point. You only require one alert from that thread since, when you click on that single alert, you read all the subsequent posts that has been made for it anyway. The rest are completely redundant! You don't need to open the e-mails and click on the links, also less e-mails to...

    Drowning in 'New reply' notifications.

I know and have done so since I first started this thread. I just feel this shouldn't be an "either/or" type of situation which, honestly, is handled better by all other forums that I frequent.

I'm just going to read-only mode henceforth to avoid the hassle. Even clicking the links in the e-mail notifications has been an issue as they often don't open the thread post in question but a much, much older post several pages back.

    Drowning in 'New reply' notifications.

It is about e-mail notifications. The most recent ones I've been getting is from the Alamo thread: Seriously, who thinks this is a good thing? I've just unwatched the thread as I can't deal with this any more. Just have to remind myself to unwatch as soon as I post in a thread and just re-visit...

Which modern current tv shows do you still buy on dvd?

Recently caved in and bought season 4 of The Strain on DVD as it has, to this date, not had a BD release anywhere.

    An Appreciation for Scandinavian Films...

Considering that the story is set in the 1920s and Pippi didn't come about until the 1940s I'm not sure how they'd be able to shoe-horn in that or the plethora of memorable characters she wrote about since then for that matter. Hardly attributed as a fail.

    A Few Words About A few words about…™ Emmanuelle – in Blu-ray

That would be Emmanuelle 7 (1993). Emmanuelle 6, which premiered in 1988, starred Natalie Uher. I quite like Emmanuelle 4 although Sylvia's participation is minor, undergoing a complete surgical reconstruction and introducing Swedish Mia Nygren in her place. Sylvia would also take part in...

    "Midnight Caller"?

Very popular show in Sweden at the time and I have fond memories of it. It popped up on cable after its original broadcast but it's been a long time now since I last saw it. I enjoyed the show, it had good writing, great cast, and the fact that I had an enormous crush on Wendy Kilbourne surely...
