    Ken Russell's "The Music Lovers"

I ordered it THE DAY IT WAS ANNOUNCED! I think it is one of Ken Russell's best. The excesses seem aligned with the most romantic passages of the music and it's all a kind of brilliantly acted fever dream. Beautifully executed. Not to all tastes but I'm a fan and delighted to finally have it. BFI...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Paint Your Wagon -- in 4k UHD

Yes. It's on my Kindle, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, having seen all of the films in Denver on the first release!

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Paint Your Wagon -- in 4k UHD

It's not a film I love, but the 4K UHD disc looks and sounds almost as clear as the Roadshow engagement of my youth at the Cooper Cinerama in Denver, Colorado. I'd love a 4K UHD of Josh Logan's other big 60s musical mishap, CAMELOT. With all its flaws, I find some of the actors sublime, even in...

    Godzilla: Minus One (2023)

I LOVED THIS FILM! It was surprisingly moving and still satisfied all the teenage boy in me who loved all the old-school Godzilla films. I found this much more satisfying than any of the other recent films with Godzilla. It was a Black and White presentation in a Regal RPX theatre and it was...

    Gay-Friendly Blu-rays

For me, one of, if not possibly the very best film of the year. An exquisitely wrought work of art that cuts straight to the bone and really stays with you, weeks after. A profound meditation on love, longing, death and grief… with four central performances for the ages!

    Godzilla: Minus One (2023)

It's a great, engrossing and surprising film! I wnt in expecting purse escapism and was pleasantly surprised and compelled! See it on the biggest screen possible as the cinematography and set piece/anchoring scenes all look great.

Official 2024 Oscar Nominations And Discussion Thread

Happy of course for all the nominees... yet sorry to see ANDREW SCOTT, PAUL MESCAL, AUNJUNAE ELLIS-TAYLOR, ANDREW HAIGH, AVA DuVERNAY, BARRY KEOGHAN, GODZILLA MINUS ONE, ORIGIN and ALL OF US STRANGERS overlooked. That said, this year more than many I personally think they got right and the mix...

    American Fiction (2023)

One of, if not my favorite film of the year. Sublime performances, a terrific script, and an excellent first feature debut. Moments and nuances of Black life we never get to see! Fantastic work!

    Gladiator 2 (2024)

Paul Mescal is an outrageously talented man. Equally brilliant onstage and onscreen. His casting, along with Denzel makes me interested in this sequel even though I was not a fan of the first film.

Blu-ray Review Song of Norway Blu-ray Review

I saw it as a kid at the Aladdin theatre in Denver... loved the music and the scenery but even a discerning ten year old knew better!

    Netflix Maestro

I saw the film at the Paris in NYC, maybe the last singles screen old school movie theatre. A great “theatre going experience” with gorgeous projection and superb sound! I have real reservations about the scope and focus of the film but the story they do choose to tell is reasonably well told...
