I showed my friend this thread and he said that "pass through" means the signal gets carried through unprocessed and that all the ATMOS processing should be done at the AVR level. So that devices before the AVR don't need the ATMOS capability, just the ability to pass through the data stream...

Thanks. To kick the dead horse a bit, is it ever possible that ATMOS can "pass though" a device that doesn't support it or does it absolutely stop at a step in the chain that does not have it?
Also, does the ARC connection hinder anything?
Ok, quick question:

Ok, my elderly father can only use over the ear headphones that he considers really comfortable, he tried my Jabra Elite 85h headphones and loved them. He wants to use them only to listen to his TV and to do so wirelessly. So we bought him a pair as a gift only to realize after the fact that his...
Nothing is defective just thought that replacing the "most important" speaker first would be a good plan? But if keeping "like with like" is the conventional wisdom I guess I should rethink this plan (which I am certainly open to being corrected here). I did use the Audyssey system to calibrate...
Looking to upgrade my center speaker. Not ready for a complete speaker replacement but my understanding is a center speaker upgrade really improves dialog. I use my setup primarily for watching movies.
Was looking at Klipsch RP-440C Center Channel Speaker? Thoughts? Suggestions? Should speakers...

I have no problem ignoring them because once I'm watching something they never appear. But what I fear is long term damage? Do you think I could safely ignore them?
tl;dr I am having horizontal lines appear on start up, shut down, when I adjust the volume, or change inputs.

(1) Have not updated manually, unless it automatically does so on first setup, just got it within a month or so thought I wouldn't need to. Will try that.
(2) How do I turn off network features?
Thanks,

Is it true that a Denon AVR-S730H cannot play 4K video? If it cannot why does the manufacturer describe it as "AVR-S730H 7.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD Network AV Receiver with HEOS"? I'm seeing reviewers saying it cannot "pass through" 4K? What does "pass through" mean in this context? I'm also...
Ok, I thought everything was running like a champ. And most of my setup is working perfectly for my needs. However, I am starting to have problems with the Blu-ray player freezing, this is happening on about 3/4 of the Blu-ray discs but not all of them and never happens with DVDs. All Roku...
