Wow, responding to my own post.. How sad.. After some more reading I have started looking at the Rocket RS1000s My HT room is only 11' X 15' 6" Am I getting into too much speaker for that size room with the RS1000s? I was looking at the Rocket 750 Signature Ultra HT package which is the...

Just bought a DLP TV now I need something to makeit sound good ;)

Afternoon ladies and gents.. I am hoping someone in their infinite wisdom can help me decide on some speakers.. I am looking at $800-$1200 each range. I was interested in the Energy Veritas 2.4i but have been told by an "audio guy" that for that type of money I am better going with Dali. I will...

    Possible Sound Proofing method?

I figured if I trimmed the bricks to fit between the 2X4 studs so they were really snug (might use mortar to "seal" them to the studs) I wouldn't really need the expanding spray insulation etc. I think the brick from floor to ceiling should have enough mass to deaden some of the vibrations.

    Possible Sound Proofing method?

This may sound like a strange idea but I thought I would run it past you guru's out there and see what you think. As I have mentioned in a previous post, the theater room I will be building is not big enough for the room within a room idea, and though I had planned on putting insulation in my...

Can someone please help the uneducated (me that is) with regards to room size and subwoofer power.. I am building a HT (about 11.5'X16') and will be purchasing a bunch of new goodies for the room.... During the course of reading posts and looking at the adds on this site I have done some reading...

    Seating Distance from 100'' Screen

Hubbard, I've been reading that a good standard is to have your seating at a distance of 1.5~1.8 times the diagonal size of your screen, or another commonly used measurement is 2.5 time the width. Looks like the article that Nick posted is much much much more technical, detailed and precise...

    Soundproofing exisiting room for HT?

You could also look into double sheet-rocking the common wall (not the best but it will help) Since you cont isolate the wall from your neighbor, increasing the mass of the wall will help absorb sound and reduce transmission of vibrations etc. The other option though I am not sure how effective...

"White Van Speakers" spotted in Thousand Oaks, CA

Worst part about it is a guy at my work actually was suckered in by the "White Van Mafia" and shelled out $100 for these killer speakers. I believe the ploy around here is that they are "extras" from a big shipment and they are seeling em off cheap to make room in the warehouse or something like...

    Fan me! Cool me!!

Or another option is a squirrel cage fan that some folks use in cars and such to cools amps in areas that do not have much clearance. They also tend to run very quietly. Here is a link www(dot)surplussales(dot)com/Fans-Blowers/FansBlow-1.html I found while doing a search for them that has...

Opinions wanted re: black around screen

Hey Jay, so that I can get some thing to compare against can you tell me the overall dimensions of the room? I definitely like the look of your room but fear that my 12X16 room is too undersized to do some of the things that you have done. Thanks, David

    The usual new constuction questions...

Hello all, new member here. Just wanted to say I am glad I found this place before I really start into my HT build. I have some questions and hope to get some answers from you seasoned guru's out there. I hope you don't mind me re-asking questions that I am sure have been asked thousands of...
