If it provides any sort of parallel... the Fraggle Rock blu-ray set improves picture quality noticeably over the DVD edition. Despite being SD-video NTSC source material, the blu-ray provides more breathing room for compression, color is better, and blacks are far less noisy than the DVD. I'd...
Dragonslayer
Enchanted April
The Secret Garden (90's version)
And a properly remastered version of "Secret of NIHM" (existing blu-ray is sub-par IMO). While we at it. How about a properly remastered version of the Prince of Egypt (again, existing blu-ray is sub-par).
I think the criticism of "too dark" is particular to the HDR color grading on the 4K release (both D+ and physical). There's a good chance that SDR blu-ray editions (3D or 2D) will look better.
The only negative is that this isn't being released right away on 4K UHD... but I'll still buy the blu-ray and be grateful and hopefully good sales will encourage the studio to release in true 4K down the road.
Yeah good point... the new NZ series pretty much lock on to any signal changes within a second or two (or so it seems) which I've heard is a big improvement over the HDMI signal change delays on the NX line (which only became a problem after one of the later updates I heard).
Hey Folks,
Just an FYI that this is really nothing more than the former NX5 with updated HDMI 2.1 as it can now display 4K120Hz. So if you're really interested in 4K120 gaming and you'd like to game on the same projector that you watch movies on, it's a decent fit (lag is also lower than the...
Yes, both the former JVCs and this new series do fantastic 3D ($100 for the separate RF emitter you need to buy, and of course 3D glasses). I have the NZ8 that shared much of the same optics as this model (with laser instead of bulb) and the 3D is vivid, ghost-free, and spectacular. In fact, I...
When you think of the courageous agents for change during the civil rights era... you had those risking their careers and lives taking political action and protesting for social justice. And you also had people who touched our social consciousness in more subtle, yet often profound ways through...
If that's the case then yes, that negates my comparison (I had thought I had read somewhere that the same transfer/master was used to source both, but maybe I'm mistaken... or maybe the source that I read was mistaken). If someone has a good suggestion of a BD vs 4KUHD that are indeed struck...
I suspect that more mid/lower-budget source material (if properly handled) can benefit from 4K presentation, though the results may often be subtle (but still meaningful for those who care).
For example, in my home-theater I sit 10 feet away from my 106" diagonal (8 feet wide) 16x9 screen. I...
Just to help answer a question that came up in the pod-cast about scope-screens and resolution loss with different content...
If you have a projector that has lens-memory (like the JVCs), and if you use the lens-adjustment to zoom in/out to "fit" the content to the screen... then you are not...
Hey George,
can you provide some detail around the emitter and glasses you have that work well with the legacy NX series (I had read that the polarization of the earlier 1080p models changed with the latest round of native 4K units from JVC and so different eyewear worked better). Unless JVC...
Yes. the NX7 and NX9 are discontinued, and remaining stock is all that is left (no more being manufactured). It sounded like they may keep making the NX5 for a short time longer until enough chips are available for them to replace that with an HDMI 2.1 upgraded version of basically the same...
