A couple of years ago, I also had the Paradigm Reference Studio 60v2. At that time, there was only one Paradigm Reference center channel - the Studio CC v2. That is what I had, and it matched up wonderfully. Regards David
Wow, thank you for the new responses. Since July 2002, I have sold the SCD-C555ES player and pretty much all of my home theater electronics and have focused on 2-channel stereo as I found that I was listening to the front 2 speakers most of the time. I now have a Marantz SA-14 SACD player (still...
Well, I have mostly sold my home theater system (now have 2 speakers/DVD player, and TV). Two channel listening became more of an obsession than home theater. I now play my 'C555ES (just the stereo output) into a 2-channel tubed preamp and into a stereo SS amp.
What's fair is fair... I have slightly complained in the past (WAF jokes, rolling of the eyes, etc.), however truth be known, my wife has much more resilience than I do. How many of you have done upgrade after upgrade, especially if the 2-channel bug has bitten hard?. Thousands of dollars of...
Why not? I have bought two types of 12 ga. speaker wire from Home Depot "off the roll". One was RCA that had, perhaps 30-50 strands in it (quite coarse), and another brand that had "259" strands. In my opinion, especially for home theater application, I would see no problem using your HD wire...
It is a good feature to use. It takes the incoming stereo sound and sends the same information to the SR and SL as the FR and FL speakers. It "blends" the FR and FL signal in some manner and sends that to the center channel. That is how it is performed on my Denon 3802 and most probably how it...
Like you, Evan, I joined here interested in HT gear and this forum has been outstanding in supplying that information (i.e. Denon 3802, Paradigm Reference speakers, cables/interconnects, SACD players etc.). However, that being said, there was a definite change in my priority from HT to now two...
There have been numerous threads in the past basically asking the same question (i.e. if it is digital, then the transport does not particularly matter, just the DACs). I bet if you do a search on "transports" you will find numerous threads that can explain the different reasons why one should...
Realistically, 14 gauge will be more than adequate unless you have very expensive rear speakers that you could possibly (?) hear some rolled off treble due to the higher gauge cable. Now, that said, if the cost difference is very small and the extra thickness of the 12 gauge cable is not a...
Chu, Good input with respect to the story. Kept me smiling throughout the read. Phil, As people have said, having a higher rated amp than what the speaker manufacturer calls for is not going to fry your speakers upon turning it on. The limiting factor for most people is that the cost...
Chris, When I spoke to Oade Brothers, a Sony warranty rep in the US and a Sony warranty rep in Canada, all were unanimous in that as the purchase was made in the US, Sony Canada (a separate entity unto itself) was not responsible for warranty repair. For that, I would have to ship to an...
Chris, For SACD titles, check out mymusic.com. Although they do not have as great a selection as HMV.ca, they consistently beat their prices by about $5 per SACD. I have ordered from both in the past with no problems whatsoever.
Mark, How often and in what ratio do you watch movies and listen to music? This will have a great bearing as to the initial quality of receiver that you wish to purchase. Almost all receivers above base entry level have a "full set" of preouts (FL/FR/CC/SR/SL/SW) that one can later hook up...
