THX Ultra dictates to have dipole side surrounds and direct radiators for surrounfd back channels, but you could get by with the tripoles. Also, you can get some good used amps for the M&K's, Bryston 4B comes to mind. I am using a Rotel 1095 330W/ch 4ohm amp, and I know the 150's want more:D...
You must audition for yourself if they are right for your room. The 150's are THX speakers and have a very narrow vertical dispersion as per spec. You must aim the tweeters directly at the listening position, the same as a professional recording speaker. The bass response is better than the...
You will want M&K 150's in the surround back channels to keep the timbre matching correct. Also the 150's will be better for multichannel music than mismatched surrounds.
The 150's are very directional by design. They must be aimed directly at the listening position. Do not listen off axis vertically or they won't sound as good. Recording studios have large mixing panels in front of the listener, so they are designed that the sound does not bounce off this type...
Craig, In your review of the Maestro, did you set it up with the theater input at all? This is the configuration I would use for movies and multichannel music with M&K THX speakers rolled off at 80hz. Do you think this is the best configuration to use or should I set in my processor front...
Yes the Seismic will play louder but what your hearing is probably more harmonic distortion. What other sealed subs will play as loud and low as the Servo-15 in the same price category?
Not sure of the advantage the signature servo would have over the reference servo-15 other than exotic cabinet finish. The specs look identical for both subs.
That is very interesting to hear that the new Servo V2 is discontinued. Are you sure you don't mean the Servo V1? Also, all the dealers in my area don't carry the new Servo v2...interesting.
My Paradigm dealer will only do exchanges after 10 days. Shipping back the SVS is not going to be economical in my location. I am moving from a BagEnd sub that is very clean and musical in the upper octaves, but does not play loud with distortion down low. I know both subs I am considering...
Would I be making a mistake going for a Paradigm Servo-15 V2 over a SVS PC-Ultra? I want the most low end extension with the most musical performance (who dosent:))I have only heard the Servo-15 V1. Some believe that sealed designs like the Servo are more musical than ported designs so its a...
