Kino-Lorber Insider Announcement Thread (Read Guidelines Post #3)

Took my wife of 7 years to see Marathon Man when it first came out. I thought it was great, but she was never a Hoffman fan and hated it. I'll have to buy this one, and like my hundreds of silent films, only watch when she leaves the house for a few hours.

In late 2020, my wife and I sold our house of 20 years and downsized to a smaller apartment. Married 50+ years, we had accumulated tons of stuff and only had 2 months to clear everything out. Along with boxes of other stuff, we probably gave Goodwill 200+ BD, DVD, CD and old LPs. Much to my...

    Criterion Blu-ray titles!

I still remember seeing the film on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, in the summer of 1964, after I graduated high school. I was a fan of early Beatles music, and still enjoy the film and soundtrack CD. I was never a fan of Pepper and beyond.

When I first saw JOHNNY..., I got excited for a second hoping it was Johnny Stecchino. Depp, not so excited.

Although I've never heard of it, any silent film with a Mont Alto score is a must buy for me.

Never heard of it, but with Lorre, Veidt and the man who wrote The Wolf Man involved, it's a must buy for me. On top of that, the release date is on my birthday. Must be an omen.

A great series, especially season 2 with the smallpox outbreak. My wife and I wish it had continued.

I have the old Cecil B DeMille DVD Collection, and Four Frightened People was one of 2 pre-codes in that set. I've been enjoying some DeMille silents lately. I'll have to revisit the DVDs to see which are worth upgrading.

Location of King Kong 1933 Original negative, Foreign lavender and M&E tracks

I found my Kong blu, which I hadn't watched in 10 years, and compared portions to the 2-disc dvd in tin case (not steelbook. JoshZ is right. I have UK silent films in Steelbook and should know). So after comparing the scenes from when Kong takes Wray, until after the T-Rex fight, here's what I...

Location of King Kong 1933 Original negative, Foreign lavender and M&E tracks

I'll have to dig that one out and rewatch. As I remember, I think the imperfections and handprints to move Kong were just too distracting on the blu.

Location of King Kong 1933 Original negative, Foreign lavender and M&E tracks

I have loved the 1933 King Kong movie since seeing it as a kid in the 1950s. My wife and I saw the 1976 movie in a theater and hated it. After liking what Jackson did with LOTR, I looked forward to his 2005 Kong. I hated it, and haven't watched a Jackson or Kong movie since. Besides having The...

The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show and Underdog original cartoons

I grew up watching Crusader Rabbit. As crudely drawn as it was, that was my favorite.

KOLCHAK: The Night Stalker Complete Series COMING SOON to Blu Ray

My wife and I watched it when it was first on and loved it. I also remember them having to tone down the violence after episode 4 or so. I especially remember the werewolf episode. I was disappointed when the reruns were shown, as the reruns for the first few episodes would freeze the picture...

I hope the Kolchak's aren't the edited versions. If I remember correctly there were a lot of complaints about the violence after the first 3 or 4 episodes and scenes were edited out for the reruns.

    Your thoughts on Kino-Lorber Blu-rays

I'm done with Kino. I have a bunch of Kino dvd silents I wanted to upgrade to Blu. I ordered the Lang silent Blu set last spring and 1 of the 12 discs wouldn't play in my 2 blu players. I called and they were very pleasant and said another set would be sent out with instructions to mail the old...
