Official Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-Ray player thread

Ah, beautiful. I think this wasn't finalized in the prototype models and comments made about them and I know it's an issue with the Samsung for those that don't like the stretching.

How does the unit handle 4:3 DVD material? I believe it should be pillarboxing any on the BD side but does it stretch/zoom the DVD?

Ben, As a follow-up question, how responsive do the discs menus seem? Each company's authoring has been a bit different in how fluid and smooth they seem (none of them come across as smooth as HD DVD to me though they are getting better) but I wonder how much of that is authoring vs. what the...

I've read posts elsewhere that indicate that the DTS stutter problem does not occur with the Panasonic. The Samsung has a single major firmware upgrade at the end of the month that will fix this but you can order that disc now by calling Samsung support (and escalating to level 2 to request DTS...

Ben, If the Panasonic GUI is the same as most of their decks have been for the past few years, when in display mode does it have either: Codec listing? Bitrate listing?

I'd avoid the R3 Trigun since it's a bootleg, which we confirmed with Pioneer through the Japanese licensor.

I've done about 95% of all my DVD purchases online since 1997 and have yet to have one crushed or damaged box come in resulting in damaged packaging. None at all and that's from various retailers at all areas across the country. Either the postal system in my area is better than average...

STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE 09/10/'03: "The Xindi"

Having finally taken in the opener, after dropping off early in the second season, I got a strong vibe from the first couple of minutes of the show that just got stronger as it went on. Enterprise: 9/11 The Trek franchises for the most part are interesting windows into the times they were...

Bravo THE DIGITAL BITS for summing up how it feels to be a DVD REVIEWER

I'm basically in the midst of this myself at the moment, where one reader has suggested a change in my writing style (plug plug - www.animeondvd.com) so that I can gain more credibility, since I apparently lack it now after something like five years and over probably 1500 reviews. Adam's article...

Rich, stop giving away my source! I can't complain though - I just cleaned them out of 390 clear thinpaks this weekend that shipped to me yesterday. Thankfully, UPS ground is only a day away for me. muahahahahaha!

Eric, Well, you're pretty much right in one respect. It did just stop. The demonic element to Berserk was prevalent throughout the series, but not in your face *most* of the time. But it's definitly there. The problem comes in through how people view it. When you take a step back and...
