The Garden of Allah is a visual feast for the eyes. Marlene Dietrich was not fond of the script, but did admit some years later that she considered "Garden of Allah" to be the one of the most beautifully produced color movies ever made. She also liked working for Selznick because he was generous...
Thanks for the explanation, I was hoping it was a copyright issue and not a condition issue. It's nothing short of a miracle that anything survives from these 80+ year old movies, so I'm so happy that Gone With The Wind and A Star is Born were preserved and restored so well! I wonder if a...
I am thoroughly delighted with this release. I've been waiting for years for a decent restoration/transfer of this movie, and was not disappointed! I, like others, always thought the original negatives were lost. It seems like it's always the Selznick Technicolor movies where the original...
I am really enjoying this release and am so thankful to Universal for putting it out. Dracula looks great, The Invisible Man looks wonderful, The Wolfman looks phenomenal, and I haven't watched Frankenstein yet. But what a treat to have all of these horror classics in 4K! Now we just need The...
I bought this collection last fall, but just now tried to watch Rear Window. It froze at about 45 minutes in, and cleaning the disc didn't fix it. I did submit a request on that Universal submission form that somebody posted in this thread. Has anyone else had a problem with any of the discs...
I bought the new blu-ray disc that Paramount put out last year, I already owned it on blu-ray, but didn't have the silent version. I will upgrade to the new 4K, I hate double dipping, but this is one of my top favorite movies, and I'm excited Paramount seems to be getting more interested in...
Just received my copy a few days ago, havent watched the movie yet, but watched a few of the extras, the big dance number in true stereo is wonderful! I could watch that all day!
I'm happy with the disc and the transfers. I was aware that the S.E. negs were no longer available for MGM cartoons, so I knew I was not going to quite get the stunning "Popeye" Paramount look, but the new disc is a nice improvement over the previous DVD I've had for years. Plus with this...
After watching the movie, I'm really happy with the new transfer. Not perfect, but much better than the previous blu-ray! It looks really good, and I'm satisfied this is the best this movie will probably look on blu-ray.
I am surprised they would put out a 4K disc version of The Ten Commandments since they just released that double feature of the silent and sound versions earlier this year, which I bought. I had given up hope of any more classic movies being released in 4K on physical disc!
I was always a bit disappointed in the last "Brides of Dracula" blu-ray in the previously released8 disc Hammer set. The transfer didn't seem very good, and was a bit too grainy, in parts. I just got the new disc, haven't watched it yet, but it appears to be a better transfer than the last one...
I have one of those old Technicolor super 8 cartridge projectors, from 1968. It still works, but all my movies are reel to reel, so I've never actually shown a film on it. But it is super cool looking, looks like its one of the visaphones right out of the Jetsons!
