Dialog not clear enough through my Onkyo TX-NR717

I looked at the settings for my speakers and the fronts were at +4.5, while the center was at -0.5. I bumped up the center to +2.5 or 3.0. That helped a lot!

Dialog not clear enough through my Onkyo TX-NR717

schan1269, I had the mic on a tripod on the couches at ear height. Perhaps I should do it again. Bruce

Dialog not clear enough through my Onkyo TX-NR717

The fix here my be quite simple, but I'm stumped. I have this very nice Onkyo TX-NR717, which I really like. However, it seems like the dialog does not come through as clearly as it did with my old Integra DTR 5.2. Even with the volume turned up quite high, it is difficult to hear all the dialog...

    Probably not possible, but ...

I used my cell phone video to get behind my receiver. I found a sticker that said it was a refurbished unit and had 717R506705 on it. That looks like a S/N to me. Anyone agree? I could see nothing else on the back of the receiver that even remotely resembled a serial number. Bruce PS--I don't...

    Probably not possible, but ...

Thanks, tried that. It is a refurb from A4L and had no 16-digit number on the box.

    Probably not possible, but ...

Is there any way to view the serial number for my Onkyo TX-NR717 onscreen? I'm sure there's not, but figured I'd ask just in case. I'm just trying to avoid having to pull my unit out to find it on the back. I know--I should have written it down before I installed it, but was too excited to get...

    Another 717 question--Dolby, THX, Neo 6?

I did the 2EQ speaker calibration tonight and it all sounds great. I have a question, though, about all the different audio formats the TX-NR717 can do. With my old receiver, if a DVD allowed the choice of Dolby or DTS, the receiver would automatically change according to what I selected. It...

Onkyo TX-NR717 question--how to make TV sound come through?

OK. I kind of figured it might have to be something like that. Thanks!

Onkyo TX-NR717 question--how to make TV sound come through?

I have everything hooked up to my new 717 receiver via HDMI. Sound and video come through from my blu-ray player and my DVR. However, how can I make the sound from my TV play through the receiver? I have a Samsung PN59D7000FF plasma Smart TV. It has YouTube, etc. If I want to watch a YouTube...

Onkyo 717--can't get blu-ray player to work with it

Sam, I think that did the trick! I say think because I also switched a couple of HDMI cables around, using a shorter one to connect the blu-ray player to the receiver. In any event, I now have sound and picture coming from the blu ray through the receiver. Consider your hand heartily shaken...

Onkyo 717--can't get blu-ray player to work with it

No they weren't unplugged from the wall. I will try unplugging everything and plugging them back in.

Onkyo 717--can't get blu-ray player to work with it

Just got my refurb 717 today through Accessories 4 Less. I've hooked up all my speakers (5.1 system), my DirecTV DVR and my Samsung BD-D5500 blu-ray player. I'm using all HDMI connections. I've got sound and picture coming through for my DVR but sound only from the blu-ray player. I get an...

    Experience with Accessories4Less?

I went ahead and ordered an Onkyo TX-NR717 from Accessories4Less + extended warranty. Thanks, all!

    Experience with Accessories4Less?

Who has done business with Accessories4Less? I am strongly leaning toward picking up my receiver from them along with an extended warranty. I believe Onkyo's usual warranty for a new receiver is a limited 2 year warranty, whereas the factory refurbs at A4L is only 1 year. I could pick up the...

Any insight on the new Onkyo receivers coming--525, 626, and 727?

I see that in April, Onkyo will be releasing the TX-NR525 and the TX-NR626, followed some time later (May?) by the TX-NR727. I have seen the specs on their site, but does anyone have any other information about them? Can we look forward to some downward price pressure on the 616 and 717? Given...
