    Weekly RoundUp 11-6-2007

I picked up the fridge set at bb today and it does have the same set as everyone else just inside of a fridge with some magnets. Not exactly worth it but since bb had the best price anyway, it works for me...

    FS: Panasonic SFX1050S DVD/Receiver combo (XP50 - Faroudja))

No problem. That's what I figured. Were you specifically looking for a combo or just a DVD player? I bought a Lite-on LVD-2001 DVD player a while back and have never used it (only watched one DVD). It scales to 1080i (via component) and is region-free and converts PAL to NTSC and vice versa...

Return of the King DVD reviews?

Just wanted to clarify that the Bits specifically states that the reviews are embargoed until tomorrow so I doubt you'll see any today unless that is the last review copy they want to see...

Best three Worst three Need three

Always interesting to hear what others think of your collection. Thanks for checking out mine, JonBoriss. Awww, I like Goldmember. Yeah, The Mexican is not great, but it was a $7.99 previously viewed purchase. What Lies Beneath? Man, that is one truly creepy movie. Sure, the ending...

Best three Worst three Need three

For Curt Badry: Not a whole lot to choose from, but I'll give it a shot... Best three: Pulp Fiction - I never tire of this film Fight Club - Leaves everyone provoked and speechless at the same time LOTR: FOTR - I know, typical, but worth it Worst three: Bad Boys II - Truly Bad...

He disliked ROTK even more as a title because it gave away much of the ending.

Agreed. I look at these movies as one 10+ hour movie split up. No need for a flashback of stuff that has already been shown. I have never read the books and I knew what was going on with the Palantir. Don't spoonfeed me. I also didn't need the "look for my coming on the 5th day" reminder in TTT...

Yes, John, thanks much! Anyone know an easy way to save this offline so I don't have to hit this guy's servers everytime I need to look up something?

I don't know the specifics, but I believe SAG has rules stating that a film is determined by releases and not by how it is filmed. So, LOTR would be considered three separate films by SAG and thus the actors would have to be paid for three films. That doesn't mean they couldn't get paid less for...

Agreed. I still don't see the purpose of the long fade to black with Sam and Frodo surrounded by the lava. Only to indicate a passage of time? Maybe if they cut to another scene first, but they just fade right back in. Just seems like a bit of manipulation to convince you that they die.

ISF Video Calibrations:LA & San Diego, New Eng, North East, South East, FL, Chicago, Detroit, Mi

Steve, Don't mean to dodge the question, but really, only you can answer how "worth it" it is. Depending on the factory condition, you'll probably get 70-80% of possible performance out of the box using Video Essentials or Avia (this is purely theoretical as performance is subjective). If...

Quick review on 1080i scaling Liteon LVD2001 DVD Player

I bought one of these because of a problem my Tosh 65H80 was having with 480p inputs, only to realize there was a bigger problem with 1080i inputs (aargh!). So I too am going to sell mine and stick with my RP91. I have watched one movie on it. It is new in box, with all original packaging and...
