My biggest gripe with the new transfer are the colors. If you look at the comparison shots on the DVD, it appears they cooked the brightness and this lead to colors looking more washed out. The Rhino release was darker, but to me the colors looked better.
I tried to score a ticket to the Botcon screening last night in Lexington, KY. Unfortunately I would have had to register for the entire Botcon conference to see the DVD. Oh well just one more month until it hits stores.
My mom taped Transformers: The Movie off of Fox for me when I was a kid. They actually showed this music video at the end to fill in the two-hour time block. Nice trip down memory lane!
Neil, Our department has a Sharp copier that has network printing and scanning features. The main panel on our copier has an Image Send function that allows you to scan images (from the bed or auto sheet feeder) and then send them over the network to the designated machine. As one would...
Ted, Since my family lives in a rural area the only time our dog would leave the yard would be in a vehicle. Generally we remove the collar and replace it with a standard collar when we take him to the farm or vet. However, since the car would sit fairly high off the ground he would not be...
Ted, My family has an invisible dog fence installed on their 5 acre property. The fence runs around the entire boundry of the yard. From my personal experience this system of dog containment works amazingly well. We have used it with our yellow lab Cisco since he was a puppy. He tends to...
On my Denon 2200 (a fairly decent DVD machine...or so I think :)) the bonus DVD drops from "Film" to "Video" mode all the way through the disc. Now I guess this could be my DVD player, but I am more inclined to think it is related to how the disc was mastered (improperly flagged?). On my 55 inch...
The Rebel XT is a very nice camera. The only thing that concerns me about the XT is its size: it is very small! If you have larger hands it might feel a little awkward...especially after you attach a large lens and flash. I own the original Rebel which is much larger but still gets very top...
Steve, I would connect the 2900 straight to the TV if that option is available. I'm not totally familiar with that receiver so I don't know how it's video conversion capabilities are. Oh and very nice choice on the DVD player! I will be picking up my factory sealed 2200 tomorrow :)
Jarrett, Just set the S97 menu to "Bitstream" for Dolby Digital and DTS. These formats will then automatically use the optical out for movies. The player will then use the 6 analog outs for DVD-Audio. Should work fine!
Matt, If you are lucky you might be able to snag an unopened Panasonic XP30 on Ebay. I think for the most part the internals are the same. Thankfully, they fixed the motor mechanism from what I have read, so it should hold up longer than your RP82 did. The only downside is that it only has...
Rob, I wouldn't worry too much. I assume you have a rather large investment in DVD movies correct? If so having the Elite will be a very good thing in the coming years. While Blu-Ray players will likely be compatible with DVDs, there is no gurantee they won't "skimp" on the DVD part quality...
Steve, Since the Mitsu has a native 480p resolution, look for a Denon 2200. Last I heard some Tweeter stores still had some lying around. I think their price on them was around $300 (the player originally sold for over $600). The 2200 will give you an outstanding 480p signal. Most of the...
Justin and Bill, Thanks for the insight! I have had a few companies let me down on the customer service side lately (Dell especially), so it is glad to see that Disney is really good about replacing defective products. I will contact them as soon as I get home from work!
Last night I watched my Tarzan: CE DVD for the first time in a year. This is one of my favorite Disney movies and the CE is really outstanding. The first half of the movie played flawlessly. However, about halfway through the movie started to break-up. Audio dropped out and digital pixilation...
