Tom, can you check the following after the update has been done. With a DTS 6.1 stream in the display the Marantz indicates whether it is an Matrix 6.1 of Discrete 6.1 audiostream. Unfortanetaly after the update was done, these indicators don't light up anymore on my unit. From Marantz I...
From Marantz Holland I got word that Marantz Japan is working on the changes for DPL-IIx. Availability is not before end of 2003. So I doubt that if you update now, it will have DPL-IIx implemented.
I can tell you about my experience, when I switched from a Rotel rsx1065 (which is better than the 1055) to a Marantz SR9200. At all points the Marantz is much better. More details in the total sound. But specially a much better and more detailled sound from the surrounds. Which gives a...
Got my 9200 back from the upgrading process. With it came an (Dutch) addendum to the usermanual with explanations about the new THX-2 and CSII settings in the SETUP menu and some explanation about DTS96/24 (automatic signal recognition) and the enhanced PCT. First impressions are good...
ChrisDixon, the new 8300 also doesn't have HDCD decoding. I have my CD player using it's own internal dual bit (18 bit) DAC's. Although the 9200 on paper has better DAC's (24 bit), the internal of the CD player is much better resulting in better sound when using analogue connections.
I read some posts on the Marantz upgrade. Let me add some info from Marantz. Marantz states that with this upgrade the 9200/8200 have the same specs as the new 9300/8300. The update is: - Upgrading the PCT (precision code technology), that processes the digital signals, from 24 to 32 bit. -...
Olivier, I think the best you can do is listen to both. The Rotel is an older model, that has NO DPL-II, DD-EX and DTS-ES. The Rotel is very musical with a warm and good detailed sound. The Denon has more recent surround options that the Rotel lacks. The Denon sounds detailed but a little...
Perhaps you can take a look at the HTGUIDE forum, where a thread about this new model RSP-1098 is started. You'll find it here
The RSP-1098 will come next to the RSP-1066 and is about twice the price the 1066 is.
I don't think this is the right place to ask this question, but then the administrator will probably move this to the right place. To answer your question, yes there is a real big difference in surround sound with older and new movies. The new actionmovies use all channels with impressive...

The Rotel is defenitely better with stereosound. But if you want all the HT options, you need to go to Denon. Rotel is lacking the DTS96/24 decoding. On HT sound the Denon is slightly better than the Rotel Personally I would recommand auditioning the Marantz SR-9200, which has a real better...
DTS cannot be manual selected on the RSX-1065. It's autoswitched when it gets an DTS audiostream. Check you have the DVD player digital connected (coax/optical)to the RSX-1065 and that the coax/optical input is activated. Make sure the player gives an bitstream output. And, ofcourse, select...
So for really high end stereo quality as well as impressive hometheater quality, which is to be preferred: a) Marantz SR-9200 b) Rotel RSX-1065 c) Denon AVC-A1SR (a.k.a. AVR5803 without tuner) And what's the reason you prefer the one over the others.
Those re-direct problems are cured with new firmware. Problem was that the re-direct info was lost after powering down the unit and had to re-entered everytime the was switched on. That's cured now.
