Hey,
Has anyone tried using one of these tubes instead of sonotube? Do you think it is as strong?

These are the cardboard barrels that you often see at clothing drives, etc..
Regarding the sunfire sub amps, we know that the sunfire subs have heavy eq circuits, is that built into the amp or an external box? I am worried about these sunfire amps having a built in eq that is customized for the enclosures and their drivers.
the 615's will sound better than the 810s. The jbl 6 inch drivers for these series sounded much better than the 8. I've got the 610's and they hold up very well with the budget bookshelves. I listened to mini monitors, superones, psb alphas, B&W's, and found that the jbl's had better imaging...
I made a similar design sealed sub, with dimensions 12x48" using an original SVS. I stuffed it with about 2.5lbs of fill, since 3 seemed too restrictive for it. I put wood screws through the sonotube into the particle board with good success. I used liquid nails instead of silicone to seal...
My diy sub is sealed and does "ring" a bit if you listen right next to it. It is subtle, but probably like tinsel lead snap. I have a svs driver in a 3cu ft enclosure. The sealed design I think causes more "ringing" It is really only audible when you have the sub playing much louder than...
the SVS enclosures are better than a sonotube because they laminate it to make it stiffer and reduce ringing. You could try to do the same by wrapping the tube with dynamat or the equivalent.
I guess with an IB design, the only way to get more spl is to increase the number of drivers, more power won't do it...
I have a 85L sealed and 100% stuffed enclosure with an original SVS driver. It already sounds great, but I am getting greedy and want more. :)
Does anyone know anything...
Adire has a pre-order for their new dipole 12" woofer. Even if you don't use it in dipole configuration, the specs look comparable to the Shiva, but it costs less at $95. It looks better built than the Shiva too

I don't have any modeling...
I used a sony that was rated 180 into 4ohms max for an svs, and in pearl harbor, it went into overload. The sony amps don't have that much power below 20hz, i don't know if it is a filter or what, but my technics receiver is much better as a sub amp.
Chris, I am going to pass on the SVS drivers that I emailed you about earlier. The reason is that I already have 2 SVS drivers, which are great, and couldn't really justify making another 2 similar subs. I think I'm going to go with the titanic drivers since they operate slightly better in a...
