I'm familiar with FilmRise, but didn't know they also made DVDs until I got served a post on Facebook the other day. ...so while looking at their page, I saw them noting these two very recent releases (both on DVD before): I hadn't heard about these releases or anything about them doing DVD...

I have a spent a lot of money at Best Buy since the 90s and a decent amount through this month. It bums me out, as it did with the loss of CDs at Best Buy and elsewhere. But it's reality. The only part that surprised me when this news broke earlier was that they are exiting online sales too...

I ordered the set for $29. I got the movie a year or so ago for like $5.99.

I bought the Shout set earlier this year, though for under $30. I need to watch more to decide if I want to upgrade. Of course, having original music on the blu release would help make that decision easier.

Yes and no. I think it's just (outside of specific Lucas influence) studios wanting to make old similar to new. If that means less grain (aka general Hulu viewer going "eww" as it conflicts with their digital world) then "so be it")

You're right, the masses aren't buying 4K and never will. It's a small part of the physical market. Could the reason that the studios do this to 4K not because of disc releases, but because they are simply "restoring" the film for 4K, whatever the channel may be - whether for streaming...

I was just reading about the film, which brought me to this thread that I guess that I missed earlier in the year and honestly, some of the 4K comments are just insufferable. Criterion (and Kino etc) have reasons and justifications for their decisions. It wasn't that long ago people cried for...

I get why some aren't into this one, but as a Hitch fan and of cold war movies, I like it (and Torn Curtain).

It's the online thing that is surprising. I know that they have made various shifts to their model since the pandemic, but still. Then again, when they stopped selling CDs, they stopped online as well. It's important to support various physical stores where possible, as well as online stores...
