The bottom half of the walls will have 1" thick [url="http://jm.com/insulation/building_insulation/products/hig1214dk_insul-shield.pdf"]Johns Manville Insul-SHIELD[/url] installed, so 1" wood strips were added at the bottom and middle to act as both a fabric attachment point and give the eventual molding something to be nailed to. The top half of the wall will be filled with 1" of polyester batting to match the acoustic treatment on the bottom half. The columns were constructed the same way the soffits were: a 1x4 frame attached to the wall with glue and molly bolts, covered with 3/4" MDF. There is a 1" block around the electrical box where a wall sconce will go. The Atlantic Technology side channel speaker has been slightly recessed into the column so it will be hidden when the fabric is applied.
