Bose introduces Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos

The Smart Soundbar 600 is Bose‘s latest enhanced TV audio offering, available this month for $499. With Dolby Atmos and Bose’s own ‘TrueSpace’ processing, the speaker should support an “exceptionally” immersive soundstage from a small footprint. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled 600 uses Chromecast and voice control platform compatibility.

“When sound truly captivates you, it can transport you from simply watching TV and movies to being fully present with what’s on screen. For those who want to feel enveloped by their audio, but don’t have a lot of space for equipment, the Smart Soundbar 600 is the ideal solution,” said Raza Haider, chief product officer for Bose.

Two side-firing ‘racetrack’-shaped transducers project audio horizontally into the room, a center tweeter handles dialogue, and two up-firing transducers assist the horizontal soundfield, but also reflect sound upward off the ceiling for height-based cues. TrueSpace ensures that non-immersive audio content is scaled up to use all the available transducers. The soundbar is hooked up via HDMI eARC or optical cable, and the housing itself sports modest dimensions: 2.2 inches tall, 4.1 inches deep, and just over 27 inches long. The low rise means the unit can sit below the bottom border of many commonly available TVs.

Other features include access to Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay 2, compatibility with other Bose smart speakers, soundbars and rear-channel speakers for multi-room systems and expanded home cinemas. The Bose Music app allows operation and personalization of the 600 and downloading of software updates. The soundbar can also be paired with the company’s own-branded headphones and Bluetooth speakers. For more information or to purchase direct, go to Bose.
