Atlantic Technology ships AT-3 tower speakers

Atlantic Technology is now shipping its next generation AT- series tower speaker, the AT-3 ($3,000 per pair), and which follows on from the established AT-1. The new speakers, designed for both home theater and stereo applications, incorporate H-PAS technology for enhanced bass, but the cabinet itself is 25% smaller than the previous generation of the towers.

“With the resurgence of high-quality vinyl playback gear and Hi-Res digital music, Atlantic Technology’s AT-3 is a loudspeaker that delivers stunningly accurate full-range sonic performance that’s a perfect complement in a pure two-channel music system,” says Paul Fredrickson, Business Development Director at Muto Communications, Atlantic Technology’s global PR and Business Development partner. “At the same time, the AT-3’s outstanding extended low-end dynamics are perfect for a multi-channel home-theater system. How does Atlantic Technology offer such extraordinary bang for the buck in a compact tower cabinet design? The answer is H-PAS.”

Atlantic Technology says that its proprietary H-PAS (Hybrid Pressure Acceleration System) breaks the convention that deep bass and good sensitivity cannot be delivered from a “reasonably sized” enclosure. The technology directs the woofer’s back wave through an internal inverse horn structure for continuous compression and couples it to an acoustic bass trap chamber. This action filters out “parasitic resonances and distortion” for clearer bass at high levels, and facilitates the smaller cabinet size.

As well as new 1-inch tweeter and 6.5-inch woofer designs, the towers include cast iron feet for carpets and optional rubber feet for hardwood floors. Gold-plated binding posts can accommodate heavy-gauge cable or banana connectors, and there are removable terminal straps for bi-wiring. The AT-3s are available in a metal-flake, gloss black finish (see full profile below). For more information and AT series specs, visit Atlantic Technology.
