  1. Malcolm in the Middle, 1 season US, complete series UK.

Weird Science, 2 seasons US, complete series Australia.

ALF, syndicated episodes only US, 99% uncut Germany.

Ironside, 4 seasons US, Complete Australia.

McCloud, 2 seasons US, Complete Australia.

  2. Also:

Picket Fences – US (only Season 1 from Fox) / Australia (all 4 seasons from Madman)
Chicago Hope – US (nothing) / UK (all 6 seasons from Revelation Films)
Cosby (90s sitcom with Madeline Kahn) – US (nothing) / Germany (all 4 seasons from Tiberius Film)

Elephant Films also released the complete 1-season set of Holmes & Yoyo, which is still unavailable in Region 1. However, this set does not include an English language option. Elephant Films also released Whiz Kids. This one included an English track but was missing several episodes.

I recall that there was also a German release of Kentucky Jones. But unlike the Cosby release, Kentucky Jones does not include an English track and was said to not include all episodes.

Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour have been available in their entirety from both Australia (Madman) and the UK (Fabulous Films), while only the 1st 6 seasons of AHP are available in Region 1 (Universal).

  3. Well, if we're including shows that didn't get any kind of US release at all…

The Fantastic Journey (1977), full series on DVD in Australia
Darkroom (1982), full series on DVD in Australia
Captain Nice (1967), full series on DVD in German, but with no English language track and heavily-edited episodes

  4. Madigan – UK
    From a Bird's Eye View – UK
    The Rogues – Germany
    The Detectives – Germany
Run Buddy Run – Germany (no English track)
    Sixth Sense – France
    Mr. Terrific – Germany
    Tammy — Germany
Family – not complete, but more episodes than came out in the US (Germany)
    Cybill – UK

I'm sure there are lots more but those are the ones which come quickly to mind.

Isn't Madigan another Elephant Films France release? I can only find the film on Amazon UK, unless I missed it.

I thought German release of The Detectives had no English track.

  6. Fury was released complete in Germany. Only a spattering of episodes released in the U.S.

Adventures of Hiram Holiday was partially released in Germany.

The Forest Rangers was released in Canada.

Not positive, but I’m thinking portions of Rin Tin Tin were released overseas as well (but don’t quote me on that).

Gary “several good vintage series have been released outside the U.S.A.” O.

I am having trouble finding Season 6 of Hitchcock. I don't know if it went out of print or not. I don't see it listed now on Amazon and if it shows up on Ebay, it is selling for a very high price.

Season 6 was a MOD DVD in Region 1. I paid $40 for mine new five years ago. May not be available new anymore. I got mine with Amazon.

S6 had a weird history. Some people paid $40 for the burned MOD discs. Then some of us paid something like $8 for a pressed set through Amazon in late 2016.

Now it does appear to be OOP entirely.

It sometimes shows up as used, which can be a risk depending on its history. I found it used in December, but it is not a cheap set used usually. I saw it in December and got it for a price I could live with and I got lucky with a pressed set that works. If you’re looking, keep an eye on that page and you might find one for a price you are ok with.

That is odd. Maybe that and Season 7 plus the Hitchcock Hour will get the proper release in Region 1 in the not too distant future.

Thank you. I will do that.

I also notice the current version of Dynasty was discontinued in the US. Season 2 is showing as a Region 4 release but according to the reviews it is region free.

The final litmus test of "no confidence" for ViacomCBS tv shows, is if they discontinue the region1 american dvd season sets for long running shows like NCIS. (No idea if NCIS is popular anywhere else outside of america).
