A few words about…™ The Shape of Water — in 4k UHD Blu-ray

4 Stars A magnificent release.

I’m a huge fan of Guillermo Del Toro’s work, so please access the other piece I’m posting today.

The Shape of Water, an etherial, mystical tale falls somewhere between the old fairy tale Beauty & the Beast, and the newer one, Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Shot digitally, and completed as a 2k, DI, Fox has given us the up-rezzed version via their new 4k UHD mit HDR.

The up-rez works on every level, both visually as well as aurally, via DTS-HD MA 5.1

I’ll make no comments about the film, other than I consider it to be a must see, and appropriately, own.

Even if you’ve not yet upgraded to 4k home theater, that’s the proper way to purchase this one, enabling you to be future-proofed.

A magnificent release.

For those who may not have tuned it, this is the Academy Award Best Picture of 2017.

Robert has been known in the film industry for his unmatched skill and passion in film preservation. Growing up around photography, his first home theater experience began at age ten with 16mm. Years later he was running 35 and 70mm at home.

His restoration projects have breathed new life into classic films like Lawrence of Arabia, Vertigo, My Fair Lady, Spartacus, and The Godfather series. Beyond his restoration work, he has also shared his expertise through publications, contributing to the academic discourse on film restoration. The Academy Film Archive houses the Robert A. Harris Collection, a testament to his significant contributions to film preservation.

Was it a glitch with my Blu-ray player or do they automatically turn on the subtitles on the special features with Del Toro talking? I mean the guy has an accent but it's not like you can't understand him.

This look nothing like what I saw in the theater -the blu-ray is much more accurate. This looks like a science fiction film now in 4k.
