  • Greetings for the New Year! I'm keenly interested in upgrading my home theater in 2022. I'd like to upgrade my projector to 4K, replacing my BenQ HT1085ST 1080p 3D short throw projector. My budget runs $3000-$5000 for the projector. A ceiling mount is not an option. What would you recommend for a UST or Short Throw 4K 3D projector? 3D is a must, so the Hisense system is out. Thanks!
    Hey Robert,

Hope your doing well. I saw a thread where you spoke about

    - LG HU85LA

    - Sony VPL-VZ1000ES

    - Optoma CinemaX Pro

I am actually in the market and want to purchase those I really wanted 3D but LG does not have it, now is the Sony 1000ES still good even after 3 years to compare with those other short throw projectors?

    Thanks.

I love Sony's VZ1000ES. I own one personally. We have a 100" Screen Innovations UST ALR screen. I also have LG's HU85LA in our store's theater demo room. Sony's VZ1000ES is a true native 4K projector & has dedicated Red, Green & Blue lasers so it delivers a sharper image and better color accuracy & color saturation. If you live in the USA you are welcome to an additional 10% courtesy discount on either projector.
Perfect! See you at 2:00 pm at Sony's Camera Display @ LVCC on Wednesday, the 8th. My cell is 415-990-9902.
Good suggestion, let's meet at Sony's booth at the camera area. Does Wednesday 2pm work for you? My cell is 914-806-6345
Sony at LVCC sounds good to me. But it's a huge booth. Which product should we meet at? Perhaps, cameras as it won't be as crowded? What time is best for you?
At this moment Wednesday, 1/8 is best for me. Would you like to meet at the LVCC in Sony or LG's exhibit?
I'm open on for getting together on the 7th & 8th. Or the 9th in the afternoon, after your presentation. Which day and time would work best for you? Perhaps, we can visit a booth with an 8K display you're especially interested in. On a side note, do you know of any manufacturers who might be displaying 3D sets? I've been wondering if Konka or another Asian manufacturer might have them for their local markets.
Hi, Robert! I'll be at CES as an Industry Attendee (Free Pass, No Conferences). The only function I'm attending is the Digital Entertainment Group Reception on Tuesday, the 7th. So, I'm free to meet up and visit booths with you or whatever. I can be reached at [email protected]. Hope to see you at CES.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for reaching out! I'd love to meetup at CES.
My schedule is heavily booked with appointments for me to prepare for my CES panel discussion on Thurs, Jan 9, The Road Ahead for 8K UHD. But I will make time to spend time with you and we can check out our favorite exhibitors.

Thanks for the offer, Robert. I'll keep that offer on hand as I get to the point where I'm ready to buy and outfit the home theater. Appreciate it.

Does the Optoma Cinemax P1 support Dolby Vision and is that something that should be a consideration if the AVR supports it?
Thanks for the offer, Robert. I'll keep that offer on hand as I get to the point where I'm ready to buy and outfit the home theater. Appreciate it.
Hi Robert, How do you like the(2018) Sony X900F? Is it better than last years X900E?

How do regular DVD's look on the X900F?

    Love Sony's X900F it's a moderate upgrade from last year's X900E.
The advantages this year are better video processor for improved color fidelity, and better up-conversion of 1080 content, like cable. Also the new X900F series supports Dolby Vision HDR and the X900E only supports HDR10 and HLG HDR.

The X900F also has Google Assistant built-in. It's also a little brighter and has more local dimming zones.

They are on sale now, what size are you interested in?

How do regular(480) DVD's look on the X900F? I'm interested in the 55".
Hello, are you planning to sell your used projector (which you are currently watching and testing), if so, at what price?

I can't sell the sale as it's on loan. We do sell new HU80KAs.
