Movies where all the action takes place within a 24 hour period. I'll say that flashbacks are okay, IF they are very brief and very few. Concert films don't qualify. I may make other rules as we go along.
Everyone gets 3 noms and 3 seconds (obviously, you cannot second your own nomination). I'm aiming for 32 entries, but may go more or less depending on interest.
I've submitted 10 nominations to start the ball rolling. Like everyone else, my nominations must be seconded to be in the tourney.
In the tournament:
After Hours
The Bicycle Thief
Do the Right Thing
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
The Lady Vanishes
Nominated:
12 Angry Men
Airplane!
American Graffiti
Before Sunrise
Dog Day Afternoon
Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn
A Hard Day's Night
High Noon
It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
My Dinner With Andre
Night of the Living Dead
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Playtime
River's Edge
Rope
The Trouble With Harry

Why is it that every girl around here is ugly? Or has a boyfriend?
Since I could not tell the difference between a weekend and 24 hours, I have one nom left.
Nominate:
American Graffiti
Girls don’t pay. Guys pay.

Nominate:
Lola rennt ( Run Lola Run )
Night on Earth
Miracle Mile
There is one terrific little film that I should nominate but I'm not certain enough of the 'regulars' have viewed it, so I chose more recent fare. If someone wants to nominate Robert Wise's The Set-Up, it wouldn't hurt my feelings. :)

I'll nominate Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Arsenic and Old Lace and Fail-Safe.
I'll second:
12 Angry Men
Dog Day Afternoon
It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
I considered the following movies, but wasn't really sure whether or not they take place in a 24-hour period:
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Glengarry Glen Ross
Planes, Trains and Automobiles (If I remember, it's probably more than 24 hours.)
Pulp Fiction

The play takes place in under 24 hours, and IIRC, the movie is faithful to this aspect, even if not to the homosexual issues.

Begins in the early AM of Big Daddy’s birthday and winds up during and after the birthday party. No?

But, per my Gosford Park nom, my memory is suspect.
