The upgrade costs $2500!!!! I was surprised, especially when I was told it would be closer to $1000. Has anyone done this yet? I wonder if I should, any thoughts?

Wow! $2500? Alan, how old is your AVP? Mine is almost six years old, so I'm sure I would be in for the most expensive trip (the Proceed site suggests the price is "pro-rated" if you have a newer AVP).

I definitely won't be upgrading anytime soon!

Not even close to being in my budget. I do get "updates"...but not upgrades.
My AVP is in the shop right now and the DTS is being improved for $50.00
Had the unit 5 years this fall.

Alan,

I've thought long and hard about this and I still
don't have an answer! I use my system as 80%
music 20% HT. I don't have rear side channels
set up or rear center and don't really have a
desire to do so. Don't know if I really wanted to
add the extra channels and amplification for them.
So what does $2,500 bucks buy me? New DACS and
a more precise volume control. I'm thinking of
adding a ML 380S preamp (used) and use the theater
passby feature. I guess I need to audition the
AVP2 vs the 380S as a Pre-amp. I pretty sure which
would win out, but down the road will I want the new
theater formats???
