Crummiest INITIAL sequels? (1 Viewer)

As I watched Speed 2 this afternoon - and kicked myself for requesting a review copy of that clunker - I tried to think of other initial sequels that came as such a disappointment. Off the top of my head, I had trouble thinking of any that dropped off so heavily from the first flick.

So what do folks think? Note that I want to restrict the discussion to bad INITIAL sequels - the FIRST sequel to a film, not any later ones. That means flicks like Alien 3 or Star Trek V or Godfather III would not be part of the topic. What are some of the worst - or at least most disappointing - initial sequels ever to hit the screen?

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Highlander 2
Airplane 2
Back to the Future 2
Ghostbusters 2
Grease 2

Next Friday. It's problem was no Chris Tucker as Smokey. He MADE Friday the hit it was.

Wayne's World 2. By the time it came around, the formula was old and just didn't grab the audiences like the first one.

Cheech and Chong's Next Movie. Okay, but lacked the humor of Up and Smoke. At least they got it right again with Nice Dreams, but never could regain momentum after that one.

Amityville 2. Uh, no thanks.

Halloween 2 and beyond. Please stop already!

Batman Returns and the rest.

Scream 2 and 3. I've got something better to do.

Scary Movie 2. What was that all about?

Free Willy 2. I didn't like the first one, and a 2nd time around was even more nauseating.

Blair Witch 2. Awful. Just awful.

Carrie 2. Same old stuff, didn't need to be made.

Gremlins 2. Again, a rehash.

Futureworld. Not a spark in that one.

Nutty Professor 2. I didn't like this one, opinions may vary.

Eddie and the Cruisers 2. No magic there.

The Fly 2. Where's my fly-swatter?!

The Mummy 2. Way too busy and stupid. Looks like John Woo directed it.

WOW Eric! I though Back To the Future 2 was damngood. I also though Ghostbusters 2 was good as well. Same with Temple of Doom.

Friday the 13th part 2. In fact, every Friday the 13th movie ever made. Also, I'd have to say MIIB.

Ghostbusters 2 was a HUGE disappointment for me. I saw it once in the theater and haven't seen it since (caught glimpses of it on TV though I think). It was so awful I just wanted to forget it even existed.
Smokey and the bandit 2 was pretty bad too, except for the badass ending with all the trucks. :) The characters were just too damn grumpy the whole time.
Gremlins 2 was another big letdown, mostly because it hardly had any story at all. Some funny gags, but not enough to keep my interest for the duration of the movie.
I LOVe Temple of Doom though, IMO it's the best one of the three Indy movies.

Theatrical:
Teen Wolf Too
Fletch Lives
Honey, I Blew Up The Baby!
House Party 2
The Neverending Story II
...in fact any sequel that unimaginatively denotes itself simply by adding 2 or II.
DTV:
Zapped Again
Tremors 2: Aftershocks
...well I guess any direct to video sequel would have to suck by definition.

In addition to a lot already mentioned...
Texasville
Evening Star
The Odd Couple II
And these stinkers even had participation from the creators (writers and/or directors) of their acclaimed originals.

Scary Movie 2. What was that all about?
MONEY!!!

Y'know, I like a lot of the sequels mentioned here. I think that Indy/Temple, BTTF 2, and Gremlins 2 are all entertaining flicks. However, I have to admit that I felt REALLY disappointed when I initially saw each of those. Actually, I now prefer Gremlins 2 to the original, but when I first checked it out, it did seem like nothing more than a cheap rehash of the first one.

BTW, in addition to Gremlins 2, I like some of the mentioned sequels MORE than the originals:

Nutty Professor II: Klumps
Wayne's World 2
Batman Returns

Hills Have Eyes II
Son of Blob
Bride of Re-Animator
Better Tomorrow II

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned these awful ones yet:
THE EXORCIST 2: THE HERETIC
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 2
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS
ALLIGATOR 2: THE MUTATION
Ugh, now those are some awful sequels!
